Well, I just finished reading the first book recently and certain scenes viewed with this theory in mind change the thought process dramatically. Notable Lyanna's dying in Ned's arms saying "Promise me". That pretty much confirmed the theory in my mind.

platinum-blonde, per the spice trader of QARTH!

My wife thinks that Jon Snow is Robert Baratheon's bastard, and that Ned agreed to hide Jon as his own as a backup insurance policy to the throne

Well, no way Snow is really a Targaryan then right? What am I missing?
The platinum blonde hair is a Targ trait, but the Targs also had a ton of inbreeding which led to it being commonplace. Lyanna was dark haired like the rest of the Starks.
Maybe a small unimportant book spoiler related to this.....
At a couple points it's said Arya looks alot like Lyanna at that age, and Arya and Jon are mentioned to look very similar.

Does anyone else find this season to be a good bit slower than last season? (too slow)
I'm starting to get sick of some of the story lines. Daneris is becoming more insufferable by the episode, and the little Stark girl has been serving food and wine to Lanister for three straight episodes with not enough pay off. Will someone kill Theon Grayturd and Jeoffry "Son-of-Sam" Baratheon (Lansiter) already! I need more Tyrrian Lanister scenes, and Rob Stark kicking arse, and I want to hear more about that murdering shadow demon, and that smoking hot evil mother of "its".

couldn't disagree with this more. Love the Arya story line. The assassin working for her in Harrenhall is awesome. Wonder if she tells him to kill Tywin next?

Can we please stop posting "possible spoilers" or "small spoilers from the books" or any other fricking type of spoilers..? This thread is supposed to be spoiler free. It would suck if it turned into a walking dead thread.

I do. I believe I mentioned it earlier. Since there are only ten episodes, there can't be much filler, and I feel like there's a lot of filler.
Also, I don't need "nonstop action" and do appreciate character development, but SOME action would be nice. Some glimpses into all these battles I keep hearing them talk about on the show..

I agree to some extent. I'm a third of the way through the 4th book and it has become a bit tiresome; really enjoyed the first 3 books though. I can't imagine what the show will be like once it gets to the 4th book. I think the problem for the TV show relates to a quote from LotR:
“I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter, scraped over too much bread.
- Bilbo Baggins on the occasion of his 111st Birthday”
J.R.R. Tolkien
Basically the show is trying to coordinate too many story arcs over too short of a time period. If they continue to do this, they should make every episode 2 hours long to allow for more meaningful character development.

Well, all of the big stuff happened in the last two episodes of season 1. So, I expect things to pick up in this area. Also, Tyrian made mention to Cersi that Stannis' ships are 4-5 days away. I imagine shite will hit the fan real soon.

Looking at the maps, why is Stannis' army coming by ship? Didn't he pretty much triple his manpower by absorbing all of Renly's army(except the Tyrells). It looks like the trip from Storm's End to Kings Landing is much quicker by land then by sea.
Or is there a land army and sea army?

King's Landing is pretty much protected by Blackwater Bay. Take the bay and you take the city.
Posted on 5/15/12 at 2:57 pm to NIH
well, considering the entire populace of the city seems to hate the Lannisters. I think a siege would be smarter. I mean, the people are already starving. Sooner or later someone will open the gates for Stannis even without the shadow killer.
ETA: of course the navy would still be there to keep trade ships away

Book or no book there are always more questions in this series.

So, does the title of the episode refer to Jamie or Theon?
Jamie who betrayed every oath he's ever taken, but never fricked anyone but his sister...
or
Theon who...has no redeeming quality whatsoever

or Jon Snow. The bastard son who has taken vows, but spent the whole show talking sex with the wildling.
or reference to Ned Stark as was said during the show.
or the new King of Quarth
or really any important man in GoT.
But I think it was about Jamie.

When he was talking about vows, and said "what if your father hates the king," was he talking about the Mad King or Robert?
