The Blob (1988) Imo an under rated 80's horror film. Filmed mostly in Abbeville LA
Magdalen Square: Featured in the opening town shots and used years later for outdoor community screenings of the movie.
Frank's Theater: Located at 108 South Jefferson Street, serving as a prominent downtown backdrop
.
Vermilion Catholic High School: The school's stadium at 425 Park Avenue was used for the football game sequences.
Abbeville Courthouse: Located on North State Street, serving as the setting for the explosive climax.

Southern Comfort, and the way it portrays Cajuns as bayou badasses, and Hard Times with its portrayal of 1930s New Orleans are ones I enjoyed. I haven't seen it ITT, so I will also mention The Long, Hot Summer, which filmed in Baton Rouge in the late 1950s, with Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward and Orson Welles in the cast.
