I don't know if it will suck or not, but it's hilarious to see the same critics who slobber over every re-packaged, re-imagined, warmed-over sequel/prequel/multiverse rebirth/re-launch that Disney,etc. vomits out every other week bash this movie for being a "cynical nostalgia raid".
I guess the checks didn't clear on their "reviews".

There was a new cast member introduced last week during the NYC premiere:
Emily Alyn Lind
Apparently, she plays as Phoebe's love interest in the movie while also being a ghost.
Homosexuality? Yes [x] No [_]

I read a review earlier that said the messaging was, and I'm paraphrasing, "if you give into your same sex romantic desires, you will open the gates of hell." So, he hated it for this and other nonsense reasons. Same guy also praised the 2016 all female version, so I immediately knew what to make of his opinion.

On the topic, I’m not going to see it in theaters, but I may give it a chance later.
I’m not expecting much because I suspect it’ll be on overdrive when it comes to “the kids are smarter than the all the adults” in every situation.

Fun crossover: Both Emily Alyn Lind's little sister (Alyvia) and Mckenna Grace (Phoebe in new GB films) played the same character on the Young & the Restless soap opera (Faith Newman 10-15 years ago).
Bonus: Their third sister Natalie is an actress too, having played Dana Caldwell on The Goldbergs.

I really enjoyed Afterlife. It was a fun matinée to see in the theater

You’re going to enjoy it fairly well. Just got out and the critics were way too critical of this movie.
I went in thinking it was going to be cheesy based on the trailers and I walked out thoroughly surprised how good it was.
