Why do I get the impression that some aren't getting the crossover reference?

Saw it today. Kids loved it. It was entertaining enough. Couple of things didn’t fit or detracted but overall it hit the basic marks to be a fun movie.

I think the least enjoyable thing was that the fire master was only capable of the same joke tone with every single comment. He has funny at times, especially early, but he was a cardboard cutout due the lack of any other type of interaction and it just became expected.

I doubt the thought would ever cross their minds. No one in Hollywood is that creative or bold.

Just got out. I enjoyed it a lot. Solid movie. Question though: if the ghost containment unit blew up and all the ghosts escaped, then how were they able to put the main bad ghost in it?

only thing i didnt love was how slimer just quit being in the movie. maybe they are building something for him

He was in this one about as much as the original. He even slimed the boy twice. No he didn’t get zapped, captured, or put in the containment unit like the first movie but he was still in this one the ugly lfat slimy sucker

Took the kids to see it tonight after we rewatched Afterlife this past week.

Afterlife was better with a better story. Frozen Empire was good, we enjoyed it, but I thought the story didn't make a ton of sense and was overly complicated (I'm also super dumb when it comes to alternate dimension stuff, so maybe that's just me).

I love the callbacks, though I thought there were fewer in Frozen Empire than in Afterlife. Critics probably don't like the lack of wokeness written into the movie.

Though until I read this thread, it never occurred to me in the movie that the ghost was trying to be Phoebe's girlfriend. I didn't get that vibe at all. Maybe my radar isn't up, but that also may be a case of trying to find wokeness where it doesn't exist.

after watching it twice, it's kinda vague. it could easily be described as plutonic, but ultimately, all she was doing was manipulating phoebe.

please tell me you keep this same attitude for top gun...

Top Gun didnt rely on a ensemble cast of comedians that were perfectly in tune and on time with their dialogue to make it great. Great comedy is harder to pull off than drama and action imo. The heart of that story was Maverick and Goose. Having Maverick mentor Goose's son I didn't think was a bad approach but I wasnt thrilled with the results with that film either.

I am hopeful that going forward he maybe shows that he real ghostbusters was cannon and maybe comes down to meet Peter one last time and becomes the office pet.

The weird love story thing didnt bother me a ton. Phoebe was vunerable. It made some sense to me that someone cared about her interests and she trusted that person too much.

I thought the villain was great, not sure how I felt about the fire master thing. I kind of wish they had motified the packs more ( I know she did), but it would have been cool to have more of a fire stream.

H.A.S.P. (Health and Safety Pack). this might be more of a "fan name" for the pack itself since it's not mentioned in the movie.

GB2 was shite on so much that you can tell they're keeping it to a minimum in terms of referencing it.

they explained it nerdspeak in the movie.

But I think it's not the actual metal enclosure that confines them, it's a laser confinement grid. Just turn the lasers back on, man.

I think.

IMO the physical appearance of this guy was the most well designed in recent memory.

Every time he was onscreen I couldn't stop thinking about how great he looked, from the self-straightening plug-and-play horns, to the elongated gauntness, to the fingers that looked eerily like spider legs.

I mean there are only so many "new" creatures that you can successfully invoke after decades of monster movies. Really nice job by the various artists.

Seems pretty innocuous from most accounts. It's there if you really want to see it, but no one beats you over the head with the idea.

Though Phoebe does kinda go to extremes to 'be' with her, doesn't she?

I also was a fan of how the villain looked. I think they could have gone a little scarier with him. They could have dropped the fire master guy all together, and let the team be that (could have had the firemaster die)

but yeah, I want more. Just keep Winston and Ray and the gang. Id love villians like boogie man, as it seemed they got into the real ghostbusters. Even some shorts like marvel does with them catching ghosts here or there would be great

I also thought of that, until they nearly killed it, and hit breaks.

I thought slimer driving that truck would of been good 2.
