Just watched.

So, Ghostbusters is my all-time favorite movie.

It is always great to see Ecro-1, the Firehouse, the old cast and the uniforms. Loved hearing the original score throughout.

But I think it’s time they hang it up. The original cast doesn’t have the same charm anymore and despite how much I love Paul Rudd, the new cast can’t carry this franchise any longer.

Here are some nitpicks:

Ray sees the power of the orb in his Occult Store and just hands it off to Winston’s team without being present for its testing? No chance in hell.

Winston has set up this new team as the Ghostbusters and in the first scene of the movie Phoebe is shooting proton streams from the gunner seat of Ecto-1, but he has the audacity to scold Ray for her using a positron collider to save his life by destroying the Fortitude Lion statue? GTFO of there with this. Totally out of character.

Phoebe is able to take molten brass and cast parts to retrofit her proton pack within minutes? Hmm , ok.

Garraka’s design was lazy. Vecna’s fingers, frame of Slenderman, horned-head ala Steppenwolf and so many other bad guys over the years. Rang hollow for me. Also, guy is powerful enough to freeze all of NY but doesn’t freeze these humans that can stop him instantly? Just kind of puts them in ice prison? I mean, I get the movie would be over if he did this, but it makes him seem pretty weak for such a demi-god.

I’m glad Bill Murray agreed to be in this, but I wish his writing had been a bit better. His jokes really seemed lazy and didn’t do his character justice.

The ending. All movie they explain how the original containment unit is busting at the seems and can barely hold the ghosts still in it. So it gets totally compromised to the point all the ghosts are released, but all they have to do is turn it back on and it instantly sucks them all back in along with the main villain from the movie and it’s…fine? Come the frick on. I’ll give you that crossing the streams in the first GB was a bit of a cop out, but at least it was set up earlier in the movie as a possibility.

I did enjoy Kumail’s character. He had a whimsical gollygeewiz charm that worked for me. As did Podcast in the first movie, though he may have aged out of that in this one.

All in all, it’s totally watchable, albeit totally forgettable.

Saw it Tues night with my wife's family. It was $6 movie night wasn't terrible but honestly i fell asleep about 30 mins in. I was awake for the last 45 mins and it was pretty good after the dude with the screw on horns showed up.

it never occurred to me in the movie that the ghost was trying to be Phoebe's girlfriend

there was a moment where i though they were actually going to kiss. didn't bother me at all. Although I was thinking the ghost chick was a bit older than Phoebe.

They did a great job casting Phoebe's part. It's easy to believe that she could be Spengler's granddaughter.

Didn't have time to wait for the after credits scene. Is it posted anywhere online?

As a fan of both Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice, a cross over could be awesome!

the garraca got sucked in but all of the other ghosts are still out there and that sets up the new franchise sequels

Watched Ghostbusters too many times growing up so on Sunday Ghostbusters 2 popped up on Prime front page. Hadn't seen it since in the theaters and decided to give it a second chance after being disappointed as a kid so many years ago.

It's a decent film, the premise works...but there's still no jokes, barely even a gag, barely a smirk. The sequel kinda took itself way too seriously on an absurd premise which is absurd. Still kinda falls flat.

There’s plenty of jokes in GB2….

Louis: I think you guys are making a big mistake. I got my law degree at night school.

Ray: That’s alright Louis, we were arrested at night.

——————-

Judge: The Scoleri Brothers!!!

Ray: Friends of yours!?!?

Judge: Tried them for murder. Gave ‘em the chair!!! You gotta do something!!!

Egon: Why don’t you tell them you don’t believe in ghosts?!?

————-

Female prosecutor: (gets carried out by the fat Scoleri Brother)

Peter: (turns to judge) you’re next, bubbles.

————-

Egon: I’d like to run some gynecological tests on the mother.

Peter: Who wouldn’t?

For some reason I absolutely crack up watching GB2 when they are digging the hole in the street and the policeman shows up. Peter turns to Egon (wearing a ConEd hard hat) and says ‘ain’t that right Vinny?’ And Egon just looks quizzical and says ‘yo’

I already wanted to see it. You didn't need to convince me.
