I keep thinking about how Dany’s ancestors wiped out Harrenhal. I’m sure they killed innocents then.

I am taking a different approach and believing that seeing the Red Keep caused the weight of her family’s legacy to crash upon her, particularly in the context of Jon being the rightful heir.

House Harren was a total piece of shite that really hasn’t been eclipsed. Trust me, everyone celebrated that.

The problem isn’t the prior 7 seasons. It’s the rush job of this season.

Otherwise I’m not bothered by the end result, just the terrible telling of it the last 5 episodes.

The plot points in the show are fine. The clumsy dialogue and terrible pacing is what’s making the show a drag to watch. If you can’t admit the quality has declined pretty dramatically idk what to tell you you’re just a D&D pumper

I wish we could have seen more of Davos’ POV while the city was being torched.

Did you read the books? I’m not judging one way or the other. I think part of the issue now is that previously details that filled in some gaps were brought into the fold by the readers. Now there is no source material. So book readers are left wanting and heavy show watchers who research background stuff are also left wanting. It’s part of the transition from print to screen that previously got filled in

i wonder what % of the bootlickers were legitimately thinking she'd go mad...

in season 7?
in season 6?
in season 5?

hell, in season 8, episode 1-2?
I can’t take credit for this, but I’ve been listening to some of the podcasts after each episode and most if not all of them have been pointing out things that were leading this way, such as: focusing so much Sam’s reaction to his brother’s somewhat unnecessary execution, how Jorah was going out of his way to calm her anger with Tyrion, bookending last episode with the burial of Jorah and Missandei’s beheading, her two closest confidants (as she’s grown angry with Tyrion), her utter hopelessness about Jon’s lineage, etc.

I can’t say I’m the most deep and observant watcher to connect it so easily, but for all of the criticisms the writer’s get, they’ve been setting it up for quite some time without going to overboard.

I still dont understand how no one noticed Jamie had been set free. It was the night before, and the battle didnt start until the next day.

Agreed. Tyrion asking for a moment alone doesn't mean that nobody would be watching at all. I would think they would want to check in after Tryion leaves the tent.

uld've been great for her to say to Jon or Drogon or herself something like: "Now that the Throne is mine, I will be it's last queen" "Kings Landing knows nothing of my anger and pain. I shall show them what fear is"
so In your fan fic you’d have her say some stupid cheesy one liner got it.

Well Thanos started out randomly picking to kill off to well a randomly snapping away a few trillion beings, and then we see where it was going in Endgame, without giving away spoilers.

I agree. Have the character signify that. A sorrowful glance during the bells was just lazy film making. Would've been great for her to say to Jon or Drogon or herself something like: "Now that the Throne is mine, I will be it's last queen"

Would have been pretty dumb and corny if you ask me.

I mean the triggers have been fairly abundant. The scene where Jon denies her was a trigger and you got your line there

And then she flies drogon up and proceeds to burn King's Landing to the ground. Something to make that moment epic and memorable. Instead of glossed over and boring. boring

That was arguably my favorite moment of the entire episode. I dont give D&D a ton of credit on much, but that was brilliant.

Those 5-10 seconds were some of the most tense moments in the entire series.

Sounds stupid but my heart was racing right there. It was 8 seasons of build up to truly see if she was a good person and you knew that it was about to be decided in that moment.

Her breathing heavy, bells ringing softly in the background, annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd *she's a horrible person*

Words would have just ruined the moment. Loved it.

On this board? I guess it's split. Though some like me who didn't like this season think it's a good episode. Everyone pretty much agrees thematically it was impressive.

On the rest of the internet? It's getting bashed quite a bit. 48% on RT (6/10), plenty of Twitter melts, and 6.9 IMBD. I guess Dany being a huge fan fav and taking a genocidal path pissed off a lot of people. Also I guess some people didn't like the tremendous amount of carnage with no pleasing end.
