Was that Moles town or whatever it's called burning in the beginning?

Especially with Oberyn saying the same thing last week. I thought Sam was a gone pecan.
Yup. Just when you think you have things figured out he drops a dude with a crossbow and survives the battle.
Kudos though.
ETA: Best part of the episode was the huge chain blasting those dudes off the wall.

Anyone feel like they learned nothing from that episode? It was entertaining, but nothing happened.
Jon snow is the leader of the crows and is now off to rip the core of the wilding army apart. That's what frickin happened. And that's badass.

Okay, this makes sense. When I first read your post I thought you were referring to the show's seasons, and that confused the shite out of me.
Arya has never seen a winter. I believe Ned said the last winter ended right before she was born. It might not have been Ned but I think somebody said that and I'm certain Arya has never seen a winter.

Where are the white walkers, though? They've already had several run ins with them.

Just watched it. Best episode I've seen. Wow. Sam gets his girl, finally. Jon Snow kicked some arse. Best battle scenes to date for a TV show. I got goosebumps when Jon's girl got shot. The greatness continues.

Calling that the best episode of GoT is very strange.
It wasnt even the best this season.

For me, the big arse flail was awesome, but the giant archer was a more WHOA moment. As soon as he stepped up after the human archer reached halfway up the wall and nocked an arrow that looked more like a spear, I thought "dis gon be gud".
Rise of Jon, though, that's the biggun this week.

Solid, but not spectacular episode tonight. Looked amazing for TV. That tracking shot of the battle across the courtyard was great. I'm just kinda over huge battles, this was fun to watch, but as good as it looked, we've seen it before. My favorite scenes tonight were the characters talking for-n-aft the battle. Seemed like the Watch had too many men, and the Wildlings too few...I get it was "just to test their defenses," but it seemed like they sent like 75 out of 100,000 people in the attack.
Thought it was cool that Sam's stepping up, liked the scene with him and Aemon. Btw...where's Aemon been this whole time? We've seen Ygritte's death a bunch of times in a bunch of shows/movies, felt underwhelming because you knew it had to go down that way. Jon definitely played the badass tonight. Looked like Styr beat his arse way worse than he ended up.

I found the tactics of defending the wall to be extremely intriguing. I thought it was an awesome episode.

I did too, but I also kept thinking how can arrows from 700 ft up be accurate?

i want a gif of that over-the-giant's shoulder view of that scythe scraping those dudes off the wall
