Kind of an anti-climatic episode but hey, at least Dany wasn't in it

Right, but then why has Tyrion seen multiple winters? How is that possible?

Well we've seen in Bran's vision, a dragon flying over King's landing and the throne covered in snow and a desolate place.

Still looks like she has a ways to go to get there, so maybe next season?

I've always found the "Winter is Coming" phrase to have multiple meanings, but I remember someone from the Night's Watch asking Tyrion early in season 1 how many winters he had seen and he replied 7 or 8 I believe.

I'm assuming he was talking about wars,

no he means winters

I get you and I feel much the same way. Needed a break from the soul crusher that was last week though.

shite who even cares. They'll probably still be hanging out across the sea by season 17

Any scene with her in is basically just taking away time that something more interesting could be on the screen

Snow is equivalent to winter.

Kinda disappointed in Ygritte's death, I cant really pinpoint why. Seemed like there were better ways to play that out than just having an arrow go through her back.

The episode was good, though I cant say I love it when they focus on one setting for the whole hour. The Blackwater battle was done better IMO as well.

Thanks for that link. I'd completely forgotten about that.

Yeah, same here. There's entirely too much to remember

I need to do a re-watch of the series starting from S1E1 soon.

Eta: The episode was cool, but I could've used more than just the Wall. The scythe was badass

Agree, though I did like the giants and the mammoth. Could have been better. Seems like next week is going to have to wrap up a lot of shite, or it's going to be a long year to wait for the story to kick back up again.

Anyone else think for sure Sam was going to die after he said he wasn't going to die

I thought it was to be a classic RR move right there

Get the audience rooting for a likeable character, and then just fricking kill the shite out of him

Winter is like hurricane season. Many people have seen and lived through them, but sometimes they are a lot worse than the others (snow comes further south). Starks believe in their history and family motto and knows it's only a matter of time before a bad hurricane season comes again.

Right after he promised Gilly that he'd return, my husband and I both said "he gone." Truly shocked homeboy made it through that battle.

the seasons last much longer than what you are thinking. It hasn't been winter in 9 years or something like that

Okay, this makes sense. When I first read your post I thought you were referring to the show's seasons, and that confused the shite out of me.

the winters (and summers) in this world are not like real life winters and summers.

They last years, but they are also last seemingly random lengths of time. Sometimes they last a year or less, other times it's multiple years. It's currently at the end of a 9 year summer (the longest summer either on record or in memory).

Some believe the end of the world will be from a decade lasting (or forever lasting) winter. One sign of this happening would be a return of the While Walkers (last time a "Long Night" i.e. Long winter happened, was when the Walkers were around).

So you can potentially see the problem everyone's currently facing: WW back, long summer into a long winter, while everyone south of the wall could give 2 shits to preparing for it.
