Studios are clearly spending as little as possible on the people cutting them and it really shows w/how piss poor most ad campaigns have been as of late.
They have to stop showing us the whole movie. Some of these 3+ minute trailers leave no reason to go see the movie.

One of my biggest pet peeves is the trailer before the trailer now

Decent movie, terrible marketing.

Furiosa is very good and I'm glad I saw it in the theater. There's one long action sequence in particular that was nice to see on a big screen.
I still like Fury Road better, but I won't complain about more.

Fury Road only made 380n worldwide in 2015 when movies were doing better in general.
Didn't even finish in the top 20 that year, and as you said, everyone was going to the movies then.
It's a movie franchise that has a small fanbase, but those fans think it's the best thing ever. And i don't say that as a negative b/c it's great that someone was able to make a movie that is so well loved by it's fans, but it's also why they can't understand why other people don't love this movie like they do, or why they don't perform better at the box office.
Same with Blade Runner.

Because women are not action heroes.

Other than the ending, I enjoyed it.

Maybe if ATJ got naked it would have helped.

The word of mouth and critics and cable rewatchability of the film are the reason so many people thought it was bigger hit than it was. Fury Road was very very weird when it first came hit theaters. So much of the content was strange even for hard-core Mad Max fans.
Mad Max has always been a semi-niche movie series.

They’ll have to release it in digital like right now.
It’s actually a good movie. Not as good as Fury Road in just about every way though. That’s not saying too much considering how good Fury Road is. But people forget that Fury Road actually didn’t do that great at the box office. It made money. But in these times, movies that didn’t do so well before are probably not gonna have successful sequels and prequel now. Regardless of who the movie is or is not about. It’s a cool movie and I’m glad they made it, but they can’t be surprised it was not successful.
There are some very promising things coming out though. I think Twisters is going to be a surprise hit. And obviously we have Deadpool coming. Just not sure how things will fare when the year is over.

July will actually be a big BO month.
Costner's Horizon will do well and so will Twisters. Deadpool is a given. Probably the closest film we'll get to $1B this year.

I like the Mad Max movies. I didn’t dislike Fury Road.
I know a lot of people will probably disagree, but I thought Furiosa was the weakest aspect of Fury Road.
I have no real interest in seeing a prequel of her story.
And it isn’t because of the female aspect. In the recent history of overpowered female protagonists, she was done well, I just found her character both grating and boring.
That also could be because I find Charlize Theron grating though.

Hollywood can’t resist taking a tried and true franchise and saying, “put a woman protagonist in it!”
One day they might learn but they’re going to burning billions first.

it’s how far apart her eyes are.
Her, Halle Bailey and rachel Zegler are all like that.

I would stand in line for a Mel Gibson mad max again.
