Nolan is still holding on to the dead idea of what a professional critic use to be and not what it is today.

I see in this thread that the people most upset about the success of the Odyssey are looking for another battle to fight.

Now apply this to the network cable news, all print media, and we are getting somewhere in what is going on in this modern world.
Youtube is the new world watched media.
When that BigBoy train was heading back across the country, it went through some tracks a couple miles from my house out in the country.
I saw huge crowds, for out in the sticks, gathering to watch that train go by.
My thoughts about it were, everyone is watching the BigBoy train videos on Youtube...
So, back to Nolan, I guess he hears the criticism.

Pretty amazing how he's managed to throw away all his built up goodwill on this mid, overhyped vanity project.

I really don't understand why this movie is the cultural moment for both sides to fight over. None of the "woke" stuff really panned out much as it's short bits in the film and isn't driving people away and the movie isn't some masterpiece either. Why is the Odyssey, which when we were all kids we read cliff notes in school to get around the tests, so important to do right and everyone is an expert in it now?
I just don't understand the fight over this movie or even why it is doing as well as it is. It looked great, had some good effects and such, but story wise it isn't something I am going to want to rewatch. It was a hey, that was a decent movie. Maybe that is as simple as it is, it was a decent enough movie to get people, including myself, out to see it.

That’s my point. It’s a decent average movie that would’ve been nothing more than a decent average movie at a time when movies were great.
The problem is that movies suck today, so it appears better than it is. The other major factor is that Nolan fanboys have to cream themselves for weeks before seeing the obvious.

None of those hold a candle to the turd that was Tenet. That was the biggest steaming pile of crap ever released as a major motion picture.
Nolan could have released a 35 minute video with an iPhone of himself taking a shite on a paper plate and it would have been a better experience than sitting through Tenet.
