Series?
Why does everything have to be a fricking TV show these days? That even looked good until I saw that it was a series and not a movie. I didn't catch the Carrie remake from a few years ago (it looked terrible), but would've watched this one if it were a movie.

I know some folks had some reservations after the first trailer, but I'm looking forward to this one.

Because a movie is 2 hrs. With a television series, you can tell new stories and flesh out old ones.

Carrie is like 200-250 pages. It's been made into a movie like 4-5 times. What is there to tell new or flesh out? They can add new stuff. We know how that always works out.

What really could use the Flanagan series treatment, if we’re talking about King books, is the Shining. All we’ve got is the scary but not book-faithful Kubrick movie and the shitty but faithful 90s miniseries. It would be the perfect story for MF’s style too.

I get the sentiment. Anytime I hear a title and find out it's going to be a TV series I just smirk and roll my eyes.
As long as this is a limited series (one season) than I think it's great, but as long as we live in an age where studios consider a multi-season TV series 8-10 episodes onces every two or three years, I find only resentment.

The most recent version was made in 2013, so it's not like modern audiences haven't been introduced to the story. They will highlight the cyber bullying/social media aspect of the story, but I'm not sure what else they can do to add anything of value to the plot. Maybe we will see flashbacks of Carrie's early years with her parents or the plot will delve more into Margaret's back story. It's interesting that neither of the trailers nor any of the promotional shots shows the iconic scene of Carrie at the prom covered in pig's blood.
