Couldn’t agree more. The whining about liberal agenda is hilarious. If they only realized how much they bitch about people complaining

Even without the ham handed attempt at virtue signaling, this movie sucks and makes no sense

Did you ever stop to think that maybe this is intentional? Maybe Ben will rule the galaxy and have a redemptive arc?

That's what I've been saying.

Arguing about SJW nonsense, which is valid, in this movie is akin to having an indepth discussion about the type of smells coming off of a turd. At the end of the day it's a turd and it fricking stinks. There's no need to debate which part of the turd smells more.

The only particularly useful thing about discussing it is to identify whether this will be a predictor of bad outcomes in the future.

If producers, writers, and directors are unable to produce a normal character arc for beloved characters like Luke (or even Poe and Ackbar to some extent) because they are the wrong gender that is going to make it a lot more challenging to make a decent movie. It obviously also raises questions about whether it teaches bad things to the children who are intended as a major part of the audience.

Admiral Holdo is from a book and she has been commanding shite since Empire Strikes Back. That’s where this character comes from.

just because she exists as a character doesn't explain the presentation of that character in the movie

She was the highest ranking officer not serving on the bridge of the cruiser, making her the designated survivor when the bridge went boom.

I know it's already been mentioned in countless threads, but I'll give my limited opinion anyways. I saw it yesterday for the first time. I didn't read any of these threads or the reviews before hand. I knew it was getting some negative reaction. I thought after Rogue One, you could tell the diversity and affirmative action train had left the station. This continued heavily in TLJ. It was almost like they wanted to make you know that the rebel pilots were 50/50 male/female.

They clearly show the first order as white supremacists so much that all the people you actually see their faces they are white and mostly male. This makes me wonder how Finn and Rose were even going to believably infiltrate the starkiller base.

Overall, I liked the movie. I didn't love it. The last act of the movie was clearly the best to me. I think it was too long and the Finn/Rose plot was sooooooo much wasted time and could have been left out completely. They went a little overboard with the humor and gags, but I really did enjoy the Rey/Kylo stuff. I also feel like they completely dropped the ball with snoke.

Well, it’s good to know that the hero of the resistance, Poe, knows as little about her as we do.

She must be a big wig.

It’s funny how the other movies had extended universes but didn’t require that I read extra material to understand WTF is going on.

Ole Purple Dern was a useless nobody.

Anything with the name Rian Johnson attached to it is guaranteed to suck arse.

JJ back has me excited. I hate that I'm going to spend money on the next one. But I can't help it.

Seriously, where the hell was she in TFA? Both the Resistance and the First Order have diversity in TFA (rewatched it last night) but now it’s just women and white men as in command posts on their respected sides.

yeah they forced her in by an incoherent plot ploy

and she was still terrible when she was on screen. she was supposed to be a guiding feminine light of leadership (which is redundant with Leia, but they had to create fake drama by fake killing her for no real reason), but she fails as a leader. then the movie creates a hilarious dichotomy of sacrifice between her and Finn. Finn's sacrifice was selfish and wasteful while her's was great (while also requiring a universe-destroying device that makes no sense)

well The Empire did have Lysa Arryn, so that was one woman

also, why are you assuming Snoke's gender, baw?

This is what I've been saying.

It's not that there's feminine and black and Asian characters.

It's that those characters suck arse and serve no point other than their external race and gender characteristics

Poe had never met her, but had heard of her exploits. She was know as a hero by many in the Resistance.

it's not even just that. they just suck

and they're redundant. we already had that in Leia

TLJ suffered from that issue of modern movies of over-complicating plots. that was the primary issue of the prequels and if the NT is going that route it's doomed

Yeah, I’ve read articles that praise the sacrifice of Laura Dern but then a paragraph later talk about how stupid Finn’s was. Finn might get a reprieve due to proving he was willing to die for the Resistance and save everyone, but if I were Leia, Rose would be facing a firing squad for the shite she pulled in this movie.
