Well how dare I? This movie basically says there are no right and wrong but the Victim Olympics. Who cares at this point?

you know what sucks is that Kylo Ren's nihilism in the face of the Force/Dark Side is really interesting

a lot of stuff about Kylo is good material to build a new trilogy around. hell the conflict over control of Empire 2 is interesting

it's too bad everything around Kylo'sconflicts is fricked

yeah they forced her in by an incoherent plot ploy

Her character sucked because the second you saw there was tension between her and Poe you knew Poe was gonna be "wrong" and she was gonna be the wise general that knew what she was doing

For a movie that tried so hard to subvert your expectations the outcome between Poe and Holdo was the most predictable thing in the Galaxy.

The worst part of all of that is that Holdo killed everyone because of her arrogance.

She isn’t a hero. She destroyed the republic fleet.

Poe saves all of them in the beginning by destroying the dreadnaught.

Holdo kills everyone by withholding the game plan for arrogant reasons.

Every conflict in that movie involving the rebels was contradicted by their own actions later in the movie.

With how inept the Republic forces are, they should lose badly to TFO.

yeah they'd have all been so fricked if Poe hadn't led the charge to kill the Dreadnaught initially

this movie just makes no sense

i just told my friend IRL that Johnson just isn't that good of a filmaker and he thought he could pull a Nolan and include shite that didn't make sense and we wouldn't notice and it didn't work. at all

The Republic generals are all incompetent.

They should all have been relieved of command.

No one.

They have no ships, no personnel, no army.

They ran the Republic for 30 years yet never built up a military apparently.

Her character would have been a lot better had they made her more vulnerable.

Like, instead of making her some war hero general that the audience has never heard of why not make her some inexperienced mid-level that gets thrusted into the leadership role because everyone above her has died. Then, all the doubts from Poe and her stupid misjudgments would feel a lot more genuine.

Her character as a whole just felt like the writers decided they want a "strong" female character rather than an interesting one

That would have been better, but all the decisions made were either just blatantly awful or contradicted later on.

Leia would have doomed the fleet if Poe had listened to her. They would have had bombers that would have been destroyed. Poe actually allowed them to survive.

Holdo’s withholding of info killed every member of the Republic fleet. There was no reason for that decision. They didn’t have a spy nor was their any other reason to do it except that she was arrogant.

She had one person guarding the escape pod for no reason and that wouldn’t have been needed had she told everyone the plan. They wouldn’t have had that moronic side plot if the generals were competent.

Poe is stunned for mutiny, but then they say they like him and he is apparently going to lead the Republic now.

Finn’s sacrifice is chastised but Holdo’s is viewed positively.

The space scenes were the worst part of the film for me. Everyones complaining about Finn & Rose (rightfully so) but I had a far worse problem with all the Holdo and Poe scenes. It went on for too long as well. And don't even get me started on superman Leia

Been avoiding this board purposefully as it's been full on melt to form my own opinion. Very enjoyable and entertaining. I don't get any of the SJW angles anyone is coming up with at all. I had a feeling everyone was overreacting and looks like I was right. The dynamic between Rey and Kylo going forward will be great and will be a good springboard into IX and beyond.
I agree. I just got out of the theater and thought TLJ was great. I saw enough of the thread titles that i was expecting a SJW snowflake fest. It just wasn't there. Seriously i'm relatively sensitive to the shoving some social agenda down my throat while i'm trying to watch a movie. this didn't happen in TLJ. The only time i thought it did was when Rose had the other side of that necklace - i thought 'here we go with the lesbian subplot i have to explain to my 10 y/o' but it was just her sister. What the hell else in the movie had a SJW bend to it at all?

Finn is an awful character with some of the worst lines - i'll grant you that.

If i'm going to complain about anything its the same complaint i have about all movies. 30 minutes too long.

The amount of hate the movie is getting on the board is a bit ridiculous. it's a fun SW movie.

carry on with your conspiracy theories and seeing a SJW lurking around every corner.

I agree with this - his speech was very interesting in letting both sides go, let everything die and start something new.
