I also find it funny that no one's pointing out that Phasma was a chick in a power position on the empire's side. but she was white so she doesn't count right?

It sucked because Johnson apparently forgot that the Force Awakens happened. He also butchered Luke Skywalker. Those are the short reasons. I’m sure you’ve read about more issues with it.

No she wasn't. She had almost zero screen time and was killed off.
Not to mention she was covered in her armor the entire time.
I mean you have a legitimate great female actor, and you give her minuscule screen time and cover up the fact she's female as much as possible.
Funny, that didn't happen to any of the female characters on the other side.

I read on Twitter not long ago about Lucas' plans for the trilogy and they run a pretty similar course. Luke off on a deserted island/temple, etc.

This has been my point all along too. When I saw it I almost believed I had seen the B movie and you guys had seen the A movie and they seriously had filmed 2 different versions. Honestly, every single thing everyone has bitched about on here has been so much less problematic than they are making it out to be. It is beyond ridiculous at this point. The SJW angle is not nearly as obvious. If you want to nitpick the Leia space scene, fine. But almost every other thing, including Finn (who I absolutely hate) was not nearly as bad as the bitching.

You started a thread with a subjective premise. And not liking a movie doesn’t make you butthurt, making a thread telling people they should have liked this movie seems pretty butthurt to me. “Whhaaaa, people don’t like something I like”
Even people that said they liked it said it had tons of problems, so that tells you all you need to know.

I look at it this way:
There are two movies smashed together in TLJ.
A Plot is Star Wars: The Last Jedi that focuses on Rey/Ren (and Luke to a lesser extent.) This movie was actually pretty good and I enjoyed it.
B Plot is Star Wars: The SJW Awakens that focuses on grrrl powah, smashing the patriarchy, and a completely pointless subplot. This was a fricking abomination.

Explain to me the purpose of Finn and Rose's characters or plot lines. What purpose do they serve the plot or the resistance or the movie?
Explain to me Laura Dern entire mess of a character and whatever that was supposed to be.
But it's not the SJW shite that makes this movie bad, it's that over half the movie was dedicated to introducing meaningless side characters with no relationship to the plot or main characters and then sending those characters on a quest that had no meaning.
We all agree Kylo and Rey was cool. The movie should've been 90 minutes long and solely focused ON Rey/Lulo/Snoke/Luke.
The entire "Speed" ripoff, the casino plot, the complete lack of character development, the fact that nothing happened, Leia force surviving open space, etc... Were all dogshit unnecessary nonsense.
The force is now just some bullshite everyone possesses and can master with absolutely no effort now. That's the biggest frick you to Star Wars.
Luke spent 3 movies and 2 Jedi Masters learning to trust himself and use the Force. Anakin went through 2 Jedi Masters and a Sith Lord to learn the force. Rey has 0 training, 0 practice, and 0 masters and she's routinely conjuring up super advanced force moves.
That's the problem. There's really no identifiable hero at this point. This movies lack a protagonist and have no real consequences or conflict or resolution. It's a failure at the basic level of story structure.
The best character in the series, Kylo, is quickly becoming the protagonist. At this point I hope he crushes the resistance under his boot and the movie ends with him sitting on Snoke's thrown unmatched ruler of the Galaxy.
