Shelby Foote if we're including documentary narrators

His narrative in Ken Burns' "Civil War" was exceptional. I could listen to that man talk for hours with his extensive knowledge of the Civil War.

All of the best have already been mentioned, but I wanna throw out the guy who played Father Paul in Midnight Mass. Very well cast for a preacher, his voice and cadence made every sentence sound fascinating.

Jack Nicholson can be really good. His intro to the Departed is a great one.

Great narrator for Hard Knocks. He makes it consistently watchable, no matter the team they are filming. But surprisingly doesn't use that awesome narrator voice for his acting roles or interviews. I'd use it all the time, if I had his voice.

As far as TV narrators/hosts, I'll add:
Bill Kurtis (Cold Case Files, American Justice, Investigative Reports)
Peter Thomas (Forensic Files)
Keith Morrison (Dateline)

Bonus: My favorite sports broadcasters:
Ron Franklin
Dick Enberg
Vin Scully

often overlooked out side of the voice of Sam Fisher (Splinter Cell video game) is Michael Ironside.
Jester from Top Gun, Lt. Rasczak from Starship Troopers, and Richter from Total Recall (1990). Not a Shakespearean, scholarly type guy, but great as a late 80's early 90's tough guy. Could listen to him calling dogfights all day!

I know the OP is for male voice, but I'd put Cate Blanchett up there with any of the men as a great narrator.

For female, Kathleen Turner had that sexy, sultry voice.

For a throwback, so did Julie London from Emergency!.

One who had a little period piece Shakespearean work, and villain work was Patrick McGoohan, who was born in the USA, but grew up in Ireland. Definitely distinctive.

TCM had a film called All Night Long (1962) a couple of nights back. He played a jazz drumer in it, and learned how to play drums for the role. He was a bad guy in it. Is nearly always a "Know it all, smooth-talking" villian.

I remember him for roles like a British secret agent Ice Station Zebra (1968), the warden in Escape from Alcatraz (1979), the murdering art dealer Roger Devereau in Silver Streak (1976), Longshanks in Braveheart, the judge in A Time to Kill (1996).

Might have been a good Bond candidate. Definitely could have been a good Bond villain.

Silver Streak is the role I remember him for the most. He's really smooth, and sounds like someone who thinks he has conquered the world at points in it.

I will throw Kevin Conroy in there. I don’t think he’s been mentally.
