Yeah it’s a shame that happens. Kind of disappointing really.

There wasn’t much of it in Civil War and I was hoping, outside of the Guardians and Thor that it would be minimal

Social justice warrior? Umm. I just watched the movie and do not recall any kind of societal messages in it. At least nothing overt.

Are you one of those people that looks for something to be offended about maybe?

You're a huge liberal and I'm going to have to call you ignorant if you're going to even suggest that Hollywood isn't chock full of political propaganda.

Do they have movies without? Yes, they do, but they have a LONG history of interjecting political messages into their work.

You're a retard if you can't admit hollywood is extremely liberal. Just a known fact.

Damn didn't expect that criticism of the movie. The Russo brother's other 2 movies are probably the least comedic movies in the MCU

The humor was nice in the beginning, but after you get familiar with the characters it gets pretty tiresome IMO. To me the humor interjected in serious moments completely robs the scene of the emotional gravity. They just need some dark Zach Snyder level scenes in there from time to time, these guys are superheros, but the audience isn't going to connect if they feel like those superheroes are never challenged.

Thanos should be creating the most intense emotional scenes in all of the MCU, but I'm guessing Thanos will be just as threatening as any previous MCU villain. Hopefully he gets better treatment than Ronin.

I dont mind the humor in minor scenes, but sure as hell not in the heat of the moment during a main battle, just feels completely out of place.

I think A4 will have the most cathartic climax of any movie of my lifetime

I expected reviews like RS and Variety. They're doing a TON and this won't be resolved in one film. Does sound promising though, they admit that and say it is still good.

The Forbes one kinda worries me but not too much. I expect humor with the way they've played out Iron Man. Spiderman and GotG are ripe for it. Ragnarok was over the top the entire movie and I had no problem with it.

Quick scanning through the reviews, I’m not too worried.

Most seem to either be “too much” or felt incomplete...which no shite. I know they swore it’s two complete movies but I never bought that.

think that has to be for people to make themselves feel better about TLJ. I just don't see Feige taking a 180 all in one film. Or they are misjudging why people don't like Star Wars.

The only thing I can think of that would make sense in a comic book movie and would be polarizing to the general public is if they introduce parallel universes like Earth 1610 or some shite like that

Yeah Feige actually came out a few days ago and said he regretted saying they're 2 separate movies

So many of these reviews are mostly about how hard it is to review the movie because of how untraditional it is

This is the dagger for me. I really had hoped they would slowly start phasing this shite out as the stakes rose, it just gets to a point where you're tired of everything always being taken so lightly, its like you never feel like anyone is in any real danger. I guess my expectations have changed. I think I'm finally hitting marvel fatigue, probably hit it at Black Panther.

I really enjoyed Ragnarok but it was a terrible Thor movie. You can't have every character be a quipster. It is completely wrong for the Thor role. (Plus, at no time would Thor be shrieking like a little girl like he was before meeting the Goldblum character.) If that would have been almost any other character in the pantheon it wouldn't have been as off-note.

Yeah I watched Hyper RPG’s review on YouTube and they mentioned how hard it is to compare to Iron Man 1, Guardians, Avengers 1, Winter Solider, etc. because the movie is just so different apparently. They also said there were a ton of laugh out loud moments but that the tense moments were tense and emotional. So there’s that.

Just watched Grace Randolphs non spoiler review, and she also brought up comparisons to the last jedi.

I tried to watch hers but couldn’t get past the 3 minute mark. Something about her voice and persona just annoyed the shite out of me.

yeah i mean i think most reasonable people realize the enormity of what they are trying to pull off and are going to cut it some slack.

At the time it seemed impossible they could make an Avengers movie and blend all the characters together. This is 5 or 6 times that big. Civil War was kind of a dress rehearsal and even that has less that half the number of characters this has. Just need to go in understanding your favorite character might not have as much screen time as you hoped and some threads are going to take a lot of time before they can come back to it.

I'm just thinking of it as Thanos' movie with a lot of cameos.

this isn't the thread for this but they also have a long history of putting out American nationalist and/or pro-military interventionist propaganda as well.

Why does it need to be taken so seriously? It's a comic book movie. It's supposed to be fun. It's not the Godfather.
it's like people forget they are watching a cartoon basically, and these movies try to remind you constantly that this is just a fun comic book movie, but some people just can't accept that. Go watch A Quiet Place if you just want serious all the time.

Try to relax and enjoy the show for what it is.

Eh, it is actually very well done for Thor's history. Comics have always been funny, and Thor gets buy often on his one liners, his "godly" relation to humans, and his language. His comics can be incredibly goofy, just because. Combine that with the history of 70s-80s looks and feel where everything is ridiculous, and the best Thor runs are good because they mix that light-hearted goofy approach with giant galactic battles. Plus, lots of hammer jokes....

Thor has always been sort of a goofball, and Raganarok was closer to the real Thor, honestly, than 1 and 2. Making Thor "serious, ended up with the worst film of the 3.
