It's too much. Too many characters, too much action, too much everything. It's a superhero surplus with too many heroes and not enough screen. It's Infinity overload.
Hmmmmmm......
I'm not going to mince words, but....
That is the point of comic book crossovers, of which this is.

This was always going to be the reason it doesn’t get as high as the first Avengers or BP.
As soon as the run time was released I knew the length would be an easy target

The ny post review sorta hints at someone dying

Mortality is front and center in “Infinity War,” and if the brief appearance of Peter Dinklage as a lonely, metal-welding giant doesn’t tip you off, we’re deep in “Game of Thrones” territory here: No one is safe.

I do wonder if it will work, but that's what I mean. The whole point of a comic book crossover is "too much." You don't restrain a Universe-level threat. You throw everything at it. Every character your have, every writer you have. Every idea you have. Every battle. Every crazy reason behind whatever plot point.
The craziness is part of the fun of an event like this.
It's the ultimate written form of "go big, or go home."

I'm going to stay on this board as long as I can, but I'm not touching large scale media until Sunday mid day. Didn't go to any news sites or reddit today and probably won't for awhile.

They’d blank out the name but put the characters picture with a headline like “why ______ death was necessary “

I'm almost certain several may die. All the actors are back for the next one though, so I'm curious how they'll handle it. I'm assuming we may get some time travel.

Another review that says just too much of everything...

There will be another big influx tomorrow and Thursday and it will probably shoot up to around 88 again but will fall again after Thursday to around 82-85

Just watched Grace Randolphs non spoiler review, and she also brought up comparisons to the last jedi.

Tough shite for that reviewer

Additionally, even if this is true, TLJ was a cultural problem because everyone experienced and grew with the mythos. The history of Star Wars, that was the base of most of TLJ's problems, WAS the cultural phenomena of Star Wars - that's a huge audience. The history of the MCU that would be "destroyed" are the comics, and that group 1) Expects big changes pretty often 2) Is a much smaller audience

Does korg get a line? I need to know

quote:I watched some of her review (and probably will never watch another of her reviews again) and I think this is mostly the case. She basically said it reminded her of TLJ in that some characters in IW don't get the big hero moment some people might want. That's about it.
Or they are misjudging why people don't like Star Wars.
I know a lot don't like what Rian Johnson did with Luke but I've seen far more complaints (in total) about the pointlessness of Finn and Poe's plan, casino planet, and Holdo being just a terrible character.
I would also argue, as it seems you do, that Luke held so much more weight and expectation than any of these Marvel heroes do. Don't get me wrong. I've been a fan of these characters since I was a kid (I still have my Infinity Gauntlet comics) but these movie versions occupy a different space in my head. There's not nearly as much baggage as what comes with Star Wars.

"The non-stop quips and attempts at humour occur at the regular even when serious circumstances are unfolding. It was a minor issue in Thor: Ragnarok but it is near fatal here. Sure the MCU movies all have humour, but imagine if characters were cracking wise during Peggy's funeral in Civil War or as the team was mourning the death of Agent Coulson in The Avengers and you'll have an idea of how it plays out here."
This is the dagger for me. I really had hoped they would slowly start phasing this shite out as the stakes rose, it just gets to a point where you're tired of everything always being taken so lightly, its like you never feel like anyone is in any real danger. I guess my expectations have changed. I think I'm finally hitting marvel fatigue, probably hit it at Black Panther.
