I guess I just misunderstood the quote. I thought he meant the movie was transcendent compared to other comic movies. I'm sure there was a substantial amount of people that had never seen a single Marvel movie that went to see BP so yes I would agree with that.

I wonder if some of the reviewers event want to see these movies or if they’re made to by their publications

Do the "Rotten" reviews all seem to remind anyone else of this scene from Amadeus?

Wow, even some of the fanboy sites like Collider and Screenrant are being harsh on this film.

I haven't read too deeply into it, but even as a cinema snob, everything I'm hearing about this film is about what I could have best hoped for. It's got 30 main characters that they're counting on you seeing the previous films, so of course it's going to be sloppy as frick. It's just the concept they seem to be pissed off about. This movie I think you have to grade a bit differently if they came through on their promises.

I haven't watched anything from Screenrant but the closest I have seen to negative from Collider is Mark Ellis saying he liked it a lot but didn't love it.

And Campea isn't part of Collider anymore be he liked it as well

Some probably do want to see it but many probably do not. Remember, for most of these people it's their job to review various forms of media. Most of them aren't dedicated fan sites like Comicbookmovie.com that will grade w/a bit of a curve.

I'm sure there are plenty of movie critics who absolutely hate big budget action flicks and doubly hate ones based off of comics that they see as inferior escapist dreck.

It's not that different than book critics who shite all over popular writers like Clive Cussler, Dan Brown, Michael Crichton, and Dean Koontz.

I get that Lee and Kirby injected humor into Thor comics. But in the examples you give the humor is a send up or poking fun at Thor’s uber-seriousness or formal speech pattern. In Ragnarok, he’s just another quipster with a rapier wit.

That's the video side, I was talking about their website. I have not seen any of their videos yet.

I think I just saw a spoiler and I don't know what to think about it.

Not in this thread, somewhere else.

Every. fricking. Time.

They bitch about women in comics portrayed as super hot porn stars.

Like the men aren't all super-muscled matinee-idol-faced chick magnets.
