It was a huge reason to own a blu-ray player and Full HD TV, movie was absolutely gorgeous.

im not reading any further into this thread at the risk of coming across spoilers but this is the reason I’m going to see it in 3D imax tonight. Even though I saw the director is a card carrying fem fatale man hater, I still never suspected the film would flop. If it’s as visually stunning as the first one it should be worth seeing. Director can still eat a bag of toxic cocks though.

Arguably, if you remove Spider from the movie altogether

Agree with that

I actually really enjoyed the second act. My favorite part of the film.

Congrats, you're in the scorn lover/hater camp, embrace it!

No. You said it had to do with masculine energy. I'm not going to apologize for requesting that Cameron actually make a good action film.

I'd say the same thing is Twain were writing a terrible, hokey book. Good thing for Twain is that he made hokey stuff somehow profound. But he's a true artist. Cameron has turned into a hack. It's disappointing when he has so much creativity, then pours into something so bland. Avatar is on the tier of the most generic science fiction films. No heart. No art. No fun. For all of his pomp, it's just a lifeless world built on the back of really good technology. Not sure why you love it so much. You said yourself, it's "ok." It's just so anti-climactic to the career that he was on.

It's the same thing as watching a sports figure we like blow his talent on drugs or hookers, etc. But in movies, at least Cameron can get paid I guess?

I don't "want Avatar to fail," I just prefer that Cameron spend his time on quality content.

I thought that was one of the better final acts and battles since endgame. I thought the first and middle act drug a ton but that was an hour+ climax.

I didn’t love the first avatar but it was fine. My dislike comes more from the ridiculous praise it got as a film as opposed to just a visually stunning film.

I actually enjoyed this one more from a story standpoint.

That being said, the dialogue with the teenagers was abysmal. The amount of bros and cuz had me rolling my eyes half way through. Adding 2022 teenage dialogue was a really dumb idea.

I mean you keep literally proving my point over and over.

The ridiculous hate overwhelmingly comes from two camps, Marvel fanboys and the jaded lovers/haters.

You are CLEARLY the latter lol. You can’t stop talking about how mad you are he won’t do something else despite no interest in his recent work. Bashing him as a hack(I don’t think that word applies here, but you do you). You claim you don’t want him to fail, cool, you aren’t the pettiest version of that archetype, but you still clearly fit in the group lol by literally saying nuh uh and going on to repeat all the things I said describe that group besides I guess the failure part

Just got out and glad I saw it in 3D imax because I don’t know I’d be willing to sit at home for 3+ hours to sit through the whole thing again after having watched it that way.

the movie had plenty of action. I don’t see how anyone can say otherwise unless they just want to see nonstop gore and fricking for it to be considered action.I can’t stand movies like that with zero plot other than gore and fricking though. seems like that’s most marvel movies I see made now just meant to appeal to marvel nerds and meatheads.

there’s no way you watched Avatar if you come away saying it’s not fun and there’s no art. How the hell could that be anyones take? This one was just as visually stunning as the first.

For a supposed spoiler discussion thread, hardly any reviews or movie discussion is actually taking place.

for real. I just finished the movie and read through the thread to see other peoples takes on it. Instead I ended up just seeing the same nerds debating on every single page whether it would meet their monetary goals or not and posting gross numbers from every day

Hated all the tropes and cliches. From the military/marine group when they were first introduced to Neytiri’s hysterics to the teenagers. Nothing felt natural.

And then you have the odd motivation of the general wanting Jake found and killed… after he’s left and is no longer a threat. This is supposed to drive the whole plot right? Isn’t the Navi still fighting with a new leader? Or did they give up? Finally, there’s the hypocrisy of not hunting the big whales near the tribes knowing it would cause a rebellion… only to hunt them near the tribes to find one guy? Now you’ve caused a rebellion. Great. Well done. Truly genius tactics.

Your body can circulate low oxygen blood but it still needs circulation. A strong chokehold stops circulation to the brain causing you to pass out.

You can go minutes without breathing air. Some actor went seven minutes in this movie. But you can't last 30 seconds being choked out.

I saw it in Dolby cinema. It has 4K dual projectors, and shaking seats. I almost pulled the trigger on 3-D, but my last experience was lacking. It was years ago, but still too dark and overall distracting. Apparently they have a Dolby cinema 3-D, but only 250 in the world, and don’t know where they are.

The movie had some weird motion, blur thing on, like some of the TVs do default from the factory. It was very distracting. Like the soap opera effect.

Thats the HFR(High Frame Rate). The film fluctuates from 24fps to 48fps.

It was a deliberate choice but not sure it was executed well.

Avatar is outpacing my thoughts from yesterday.

I thought 15 million+ for Monday seemed unlikely, but if it pulled it off it might be a sign of some serious legs. Now that it happened, not sure Im ready yet to declare that lol

Also, nobody gives a shite about any of this. You should calm down and let people discuss the actual movie in here
