Did you find it distracting? Certain scenes looked like video games, some looked mixed media, like Rodger rabbit, and some were great, and the cgi characters looked real alongside human characters.

Yeah I thought it looked pretty bad at times, worked well others(like the underwater scenes)

But I 100% get the soap opera effect complaints.

The hype made it seem like James had figured out how to fix the issues The Hobbit had, but while not as bad, it was still distracting at times.

...Of course saw it with SO and in-laws came and they didn't notice it, but they are the people that leave that soap opera shite on their TV's and think nothing of it.

I thought the most distracting part was the kids' clunky dialogue.

He's Quaritch's son..why didn't we hear about him in the first movie? Don't know His oxygen mask apparently is unbreakable, never falls off, or runs out of oxygen. He hisses like the damn Navi bitches. He's an young, under water, space Tarzan. FOH

Only the point about him being Quaritch’s son and us not knowing about him is a legitimate complaint tbh. The rest just sounds very get off my lawn, and there is absolutely no proof whatsoever that he wasn’t just switching masks throughout the movie, because that is technology that the humans have

Jesus imagine if when Star Wars first came out this was how people analyzed it. It never would have gotten off the ground. Sometimes you just have to accept that coolness sells even if there are plot holes

His entire presence is a legitimate complaint.

Question to those that saw this, how was the 3D? Is it better to see in 3D or regular? I've been hearing good things about the 3D.

See in 3D, IMAX if possible.

Yeah that makes no sense. Avatar IS a pew pew movie, Aliens is not. Completely different films.

No one is MAD about it, btw. But You're asking the question of why people "want it top fail," and no one wants it to fail, they just want to see a solid director, make a solid film. No one is ACTUALLY angry about that. You either want to debate... or not? If you're going to classify anyone who wants to debate the value of Cameron and/or Avatar as "angry," then yeah there's no point.

But just because people answer your questions or critiques doesn't mean they're angry. That's a weak retort.

To be fair, Cameron has been incredibly cocky while promoting this movie and I think w/how little of a cultural impact the first left it's been rubbing people the wrong way. He seems to believe he is rescuing cinema from the big bad live action comic book cartoons while being completely oblivious to the fact that his precious Avatar franchise is... well... a live action cartoon mish mash of Dances With Wolves, Pocahontas, and Fern Gully w/a dash of generic sci fi filled w/so much poor dialogue and tired plot threads that it makes some comic book movies look like friggin Citizen Kane. I think that might make some of the criticism towards both films feel somewhat more heated than just a general discussion.

This movie was terrible. Three hours and fifteen minutes of video game cut scenes and absolutely NOTHING resolved.

Skip it, forget it exists, save your money. There was nothing to like about this movie but some of the CGI, and there are only a handful of spots where it was really even that good.

Not worth the price of admission in any single way. Dialogue is childish, storyline is anemic, characters are not likable. Movie poses questions, gives you zero answers, and is just a setup for whatever Cameron wants to do in the next film. When I say this movie is forgettable, it is completely so. This is nothing but a hyped up dud.

Watched it in 3D IMAX last night. Thought it was great. Overall a. very enjoyable movie experience. I’m not into the hyper analysis.

Me and my 11 yr old son just got out of it. We both liked it a lot, him especially.

We saw it in the 3D GPX, he enjoyed the experience (his first 3D). I was kinda let down in it visually. I watched the original one in 3D when it came out and loved it. This to me seemed dated and not as immersive. IMO it didn’t even feel like a 3D movie.

That said, I did like the story better especially the family aspect of it. I did get the brothers confused at times

It didn’t seem like it introduced a massive waterworld/creatures. Seemed more like a pond of fish/animals than an entire ecosystem.

I thought it was good. Some story aspects are incredibly stupid and contrived, but I think I got my money’s worth. I just really think Cameron is stuck in the 90s. You have to have a solid story now. Motivations and clear and legitimate reasoning for things.

But some of the characters are pretty well established. I felt more vested in this one with some of the characters. But go see this for the visual experience. As I’m sure everyone has said at nauseam. The cgi is impressive, beautiful, and actually an improvement. It’s just beautiful.
