shite, you could do Bruce Willis twice.

1988-1995:

1988 - Die Hard
1989 - Look Who's Talking
1990 - Die Hard 2
1990 - Look Who's Talking Too
1991 - The Last Boy Scout
1992 - Death Becomes Her
1994 - Pulp Fiction
1995 - Die Hard With a Vengeance
1995 - 12 Monkeys

Or 1995-2002:

1995 - Die Hard With a Vengeance
1995 - 12 Monkeys
1996 - Beavis and Butthead Do America
1997 - The Fifth Element
1997 - The Jackal
1998 - Armageddon
1999 - The Sixth Sense
2000 - The Whole Nine Yards
2000 - Unbreakable
2002 - Hart's War (didn't perform well, but it's good)

2006 - Blood Diamond
2008 - Body of Lies
2008 - Revolutionary Road
2010 - Shutter Island
2010 - Inception

That's 8 years. Half of those are damn near masterpieces and he received an assload of acclaim for each of his roles.

You bring it more recent and he's done J. Edgar, Django Unchained, the Great Gatsby, and the Wolf of Wall Street. The Revenant is due out this year.

That is an absolutely insane run. It may be DiCaprio frankly over Hanks, despite the Oscar wins for Hanks.

I can't wait to see The Revenant this winter.

Has anyone looked at Danny Trejo's IMDB? The guy has had over 80 roles/parts in the last 8 years. He has like 20 in pre or post production (LINK That man works. But if you take an 8 year period from him. Let's say 95-02..

95- Desperado
95- Heat
95- From dusk till dawn
97- Anaconda
97- Con Air
98- The Replacement Killers
98- 6 days, 7 night
00- Reindeer Games
01- Spy kids
01- Bubble Boy
02- XXX

I left off a lot, including all the tv work. But not really a bad list..

I only scanned all the posts so I may have missed it but Deniro while not as long as some lists is every bit as good if you only look at quality.

Mean Streets - 1973
The Godfather Part II - 1974
Taxi Driver - 1976
The Deer Hunter - 1978
Raging Bull - 1980

We're diverting a little bit from how we started and are taking box office into greater account. We went from Hanks getting Oscars to Will Smith blowing up the box office to Morgan Freeman having supporting roles in every movie ever

At this point it would be surreal to see Leo holding the Oscar for best actor. I wonder if his speech would be epic, and I think he'd get a long standing ovation.

I've seen the original The Shop Around the Corner with Jimmy Stewart so I'm not interested in this remake.

I'm not really into baseball or baseball movies that much though I do love Major League and enjoyed Eight Men Out. Plus I hate Rosie O'Donnell and I'm not much of a Madonna fan either.

I mean it wasn't a bad movie just nothing I would ever rewatch.

Guys...

I appreciate the participation and there's been some good ones mentioned, but (and it is my fault for not being more specific):

a) I am ONLY talking about a 5-6 year period...not 8, not 10, not a career.

b) I am not talking box office per se, but "quality" of work (which is why I did not include The Bodyguard in my listing [and only added Robin Hood grudgingly]).

DiCaprio's run from 2002-present

That, plus his earlier work.

He's probably my favorite character in The Quick and the Dead. Probably the most cheesy Western of all-time, but I enjoyed it. He was a teenager at that time I believe.

Also a fan of the Romeo & Juliet he did and, of course, the mega success that was Titanic.

eta: Speaking of being on top in the '90s we should throw Tim Allen in there. He was in the Toy Story movies as well + The Santa Clause and I know it wasn't a movie but Home Improvement was having a hell of a run at the same time. Quick look at his wiki page.

quote:

During one week in November 1994, he simultaneously starred in the highest grossing film (The Santa Clause), topped the New York Times best-seller list with his book Don't Stand Too Close to a Naked Man, and appeared in the top rated television series (Home Improvement).[4] The following year, he provided the voice of Buzz Lightyear in the blockbuster Toy Story
