Rick Moranis in the Summer of '89.
He was in the theaters in three highly successful movies at the same time. If not for Batman, he'd have been the king of the Summer.

DiCaprio's run from 2002-present

If you can go into 1995 and add Water World, the answer would be no.

Jeez I feel sorry for you. You can't enjoy a movie unless your glancing at it over your reading glasses between sections of the paper and only if the movie was declared age appropriate for you by someone?

frick the haters indeed.
Disney and Pixar make agless timeless classics. If you can't enjoy them I assume something is wrong with your soul.

Yeah, this is right up there.
2002 - Gangs of New York
2002 - Catch Me If You Can
2004 - The Aviator
2006 - The Departed
2006 - Blood Diamond
2008 - Body of Lies
2008 - Revolutionary Road
2010 - Shutter Island
2010 - Inception
That's 8 years. Half of those are damn near masterpieces and he received an assload of acclaim for each of his roles.
You bring it more recent and he's done J. Edgar, Django Unchained, the Great Gatsby, and the Wolf of Wall Street. The Revenant is due out this year.
That is an absolutely insane run. It may be DiCaprio frankly over Hanks, despite the Oscar wins for Hanks.

I think I was the only one in the theater laughing at the reference to Chinatown in Inside Out.

field of dreams is a favorite of mine.
I like Dances with Wolves up until the moment the Indians picked up rifles(that were completely foreign to them before KC showed up) and defeated trained US soldiers.

Seriously, I like Waterworld. I don't know why it gets so much hate.

We saw it opening day and there were other adults in there. Almost to a person, every dad over 35 laughed at that one.

I had a much different demographic when I saw it. It was a fairly late showing and the movie had been out for awhile. I think I saw it on a Sunday night. There was a row of young lesbians sitting in front of me playing their Nintendo DS's during the previews. It was fricking weird.

Tom Hanks is tough to beat, I'd throw Matt Damon in there for a decent 5-year stretch:
The Rainmaker (97)
Good Will Hunting (97)
Saving Private Ryan (98)
Rounders (98)
The Talented Mr. Ripley (99)
The Legend of Bagger Vance (00)
Ocean's Eleven (01)
The Bourne Identity (02)

Am I the only person that loves Waterworld?
Nope. I always loved that one. It just was cool to hate on because it was the most expensive movie ever made at the time, and didn't do well in domestic BO so it was blasted as some huge failure/bust. Nevermind that it made almost $100 more than its cost in worldwide BO, not to mention rentals, sales, merch, etc. (including attractions at Universal parks worldwide), and ended up breaking even (plus some, considering the theme park attractions are still running).
As for this thread, speaking purely on sales (although the quality is pretty great as well), you can carve out almost any 8-year span of Will Smith's career from 1995-2008 and it holds up with anybody else's. Here are just the highlights:
1995- Bad Boys
1996 Independence Day
1997 - Men in Black
1998 - Enemy of the State
1999 - Wild Wild West (never seen it, and it looks terrible, but it made bank)
2000 - The Legend of Bagger Vance
2001 - Ali
2002 - Men in Black 2
2003 - Bad Boys II ("shite just got real.")
2004 - I, Robot
2004 - Shark Tale
2005 - Hitch
2006 - The Pursuit of Happyness
2007 - I Am Legend
2008 - Hancock
Also, you could do the same thing for Tom Cruise, and carve out any 8-year period between about 1983-1996.
Charlie Sheen highlights from 1986-1991 (only six years):
1986 - Ferris Bueller's Day Off (
1986 - Platoon
1987 - Wall Street
1987 - Three for the Road
1988 - Eight Men Out
1988 - Young Guns
1989 - Major League
1990 - Cadence (may be my favorite of his movies)
1990 - Men at Work
1990 - Navy SEALs
1991 - Hot Shots
Mike Myers had a good run from 1997-2004.
Also, I'll throw a curve ball and say Chris Tucker:
1995 - Friday
1995 - Dead Presidents
1997 - Money Talks
1997 - The Fifth Element
1997 - Jackie Brown
1998 - Rush Hour
2001 - Rush Hour 2
As good as Costner's run in the OP was, you can really just take the 8 or so year period when an actor/actress becomes "hot" and post their filmography.

Morgan Freeman
1989 - Lean on Me
1989 - Driving Ms Daisy
1989 - Glory
1991 - Robin Hood POT
1992 - Unforgiven
1994 - The Shawshank Redemption
1995 - Outbreak
1995 - Se7en
Strong 6 year run there.

I also feel like you could just not be fair and use Samuel L. Jackson since he's in pretty every movie.
