This may sound directed at you, but I do mean this in a nice way. There’s no reason to feel bad for not liking a show or movie. Stories can be both great and simply not your cup of tea at the same time. I feel like people sometimes have this sense of guilt for not liking what many consider to be some of the greats, but that just shouldn’t happen. Cinema is an art form. No one expects everyone to appreciate Starry Night and the same should apply to Citizen Kane.

I do not like The Office because awkward humor makes my skin crawl. I still think it’s a good show and can see how people would like it, but it’s not for me. Same for any Stanley Kubrick film outside Full Metal Jacket.

BB is dark and develops slowly in places. Certainly not for everyone.

absolutely!

I kept hearing great things about Succession.

I stopped at 6 episodes. I cant stand anyone on the show, and can't stand how pretentious the whole thing feels. I'm sure it grabs others, but holy hell how can you have such a whiney, bitchy, ugly set of children?

It's my favorite show of all time and I was hooked from the first episode, but after the season 4 finale it couldn't go anywhere but down for me. I wasn't a fan of the last season and I didn't like how Walter's storyline went into something else entirely and who the villains ended up being

It definitely does. I always mention how slow it seemed to develop anything, and I usually get downvoted into oblivion.

But it definitely was slow as frick and I couldn’t imagine watching week to week. I binged it in 11 or 12 days so it wasn’t so bad. And it’s a great show, but very overrated IMO. If you aren’t into it by now though, maybe it’s just not for you, OP.

I binged most of it, but watched the last 3 seasons week to week. S1 was definitely the slowest/weakest, but I think that was the shortest one due to writers strike or something else. I watched that over a weekend, and spent about a month watching the rest, up until I was caught up, and watched about a half season on DVR that I had started recording. It was different having to wait another week, but still looked forward to every Sunday night.

Yeah I imagine the latter seasons were much easier to watch week to week than the earlier ones.

It takes a few seasons to take off, but when it does... hold on for the wild ride. I've watched it through three times. Its a masterpiece IMO.. especially for it's time (not so long ago).

This is exactly how I feel...my husband watched it, but didn't care for it.

this just reinforces what ive been saying for years. people who think the show is overrated were late to the party and binged it.

you had to watch it week to week, year to year, to let the suspense build up and fully appreciate it

Succession has some of the best written lines of any current show, often LOL funny, one of my favorite shows. BB overall was great, character and story development take time so expectations that every episode or season will be highly entertaining is guaranteeing disappointment.

respect the show, it's very well made, but I also didn't really care for it.

This. There were some really cool and entertaining moments but it was always just okayish for me.

Maybe it’s my fault for waiting so long to watch it after it originally aired. The way people talked about it gave me unreasonably high expectations.

I'll be honest, I watched 6 episode of Succession before I quit. I didn't know it was suppose to be funny.

The first time I checked it out, I did not feel it. Then I decided to give it another go a year or so later, and I was suddenly binging episodes every night.

I almost bailed after Season 2. Pretty dark and depressing but what that season does is set up the next 4 seasons. Season 3 is really good and then you will be treated to as good as TV gets.

Are we already in the "that thing that was universally loved is kinda lame now" stage with Breaking Bad? I guess this is what getting old is like.

See, I disagree totally. To me this is the brilliance of the writing of the show. It didn’t always pursue the norms. You don’t have to keep presenting bigger and better Bad guys. Gus was tops and the really went deep with him. The Nazis were sort of throw away bad guys because the last season needed to focus primarily on Hank as the antagonist. Another is example is how the final season peaks before the finale. The finale was exactly what it needed to be to finish it but you can tell Ozymandis is meant to be the peak. I love how it was always about doing what was best for the story in breaking bad. I find It to be brilliant and I’ll never be convinced otherwise.
