Armie Hammer
He looks like a leading man that was built in a Hollywood laboratory. I know the blood drinking texts kind of killed his career but it was already starting to cool off before all of the weird stuff started coming out.

2 guys from Glory Road
Josh Lucas was big for a few years. Thought he’d be a mainstay but has been relegated to Home Depot voiceovers and a couple episodes of Yellowstone.
Derek Luke was great in Antwone Fisher and then followed it up with Boobie Miles in Friday Night Lights and Glory Road. Then fell off the face of the earth.

I saw the rocketeer at the theater when I was 10 and bored out of skull.
That movie sucked then and still sucks.

Jeffrey Wright - He is a damn fine actor. He's in mega hit movies and TV shows, yet seems to never be a lead actor and the average person wouldn't ever be able to guess his name.

Yeah, I don't watch a whole lot of stuff, especially the last few years. I just haven't seen him in much lately.
I figured him backing away was more his decision. Seems like a good actor with good camera presence.

Biggest movie I remember him from is Sweet Home Alabama. He's been in some good movies.

Really too bad his alcoholism derailed his career. He was outstanding in Terminator, Aliens, The Abyss and Tombstone.

Michael Fassbender must have the worst agent in show business.
Pretty sure he has some serious domestic violence issues in his past which may be why he didn’t explode after the XMen movies.

Cary Elwes.. after seeing him for the first time in The Princess Bride, I thought " this guy's the next James Bond", but it was not to be. I actually met him in about 9-10 years ago. I was shocked at how nice and humble a guy he was.

I remember seeing Saving Private Ryan and watching Edward Burns own the screen in every scene he was in. I thought I was watching a future star. Nope.
And I guess she just stopped getting roles the older she got, but Leelee Sobieski was in so much stuff in the 90’s, it was surprising how quickly she disappeared from relevancy.

He lost his hair. That's game over in Hollywood.

Had a solid career. Didn’t have the look to be a huge leading man.

Hmmmm - not sure I agree with that. He's pretty big. I think he just got bored with acting, doesn't like the limelight (hence the move to Portugal), and wants to race cars instead of staying in the movie business.
I don't think acting in only one movie in the last six years is because of his agent.

Cuba Gooding Jr - won an Oscar, seemed poised for a big career, then sorta disappeared.
Pretty sure it was his personal demons that kept him from continuing to get bigger.

I feel like a lot of these picks are off base. Not every great actor has the "it" to be a leading man or lady. Some of the best actors alive are supporting actors and that's where they fit. Ben Foster fits that mold like some of y'all have mentioned. He damn near stole 3:10 to Yuma right out from under Russell Crowe and Christian Bale which seems impossible. He's a magnet on screen but doesn't play the stardom game like so many other big stars do that aren't even in the same realm as him in acting ability

Saw Mark Strong in a couple of movies in the early 2000s and thought he'd be a big leading man soon. Good looks, great voice and presence. He's done a lot of work but not a lot of leading roles.

Have to agree. Was really impressed with her range in The Butterfly Effect, thought she would take off from there.

Define what you mean by "star"
It’s hard to explain what accomplishments are needed. You just know them as stars. Examples would be: Tom Cruise, Chris Pratt, Brad Pitt, LeoDiCaprio. Some “stars” have faded some, but are still out there. Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, etc.
