Sophie Cunningham was right again. She said the leadership needed a new direction at the top.

Possibly the worst commissioner I have ever seen, and I have witnessed Sankey the past few days, so that is saying something

That league could be thriving with all the positive energy CC brought. instead, this lady missed an easier layup than AR does every game.

I said in a previous WNBA thread that I've never seen something that deserves to fail as much as the WNBA.
This woman is one of the main reasons for that.

Both the left and the right wanted her fired FWIW.

Let me guess, she’s always been fully on the side of the left. The right didn’t like it, and, in typical fashion, it was never enough for the left.

She raised $875 million for the league. Pulling that off has got to have given her one of the best terms as commissioner in the history of sports.
She's an accountant, was a former CEO at Deloitte which is exactly what a league like that needs but of course it's something a group of women would never understand.

LOL @ the mental gymnastics of needing to put out a release that she decided to retire and that she informed the Commissioner Silver of HER DECISION.
There was no way she was going to be allowed to return by Silver after both sides hated her so much this year.

She will leave her position as the commissioner of the WNBA without being able to ascertain what a woman is.

Honestly they need a man to run this league. The league is too entitled and emotional from all these women. Also women all hate each other.

So many problems. It’s doomed. Clark only put a spotlight on the league. The light is burning.
Even Clark. As a superstar she is a whiner. She has a bad case of “Danny Ainge Face”. In game she is always pouting or protesting. I know she’s not the only one doing it.

If you think her replacement is gonna be any less crazy you are dumb

So the new commissioner will have the enviable task of defining what is or is not a woman?
Should be a desirable job

Raising $875mm for the league at the same time that the most profitable player in league history arrived is not necessarily correlation and certainly not causation.

That’s because it’s very apparent that thriving is not their goal. They want to be a social platform not a legitimate sports league. They were happy enough being a welfare league to the NBA and skating by with zero expectations. CC brought the eyeballs and the dollars are following which means either get onboard or get pushed out. Cathy is out with probably more to come.

Her failure was not knowing how to deal with a league full of mentally ill lesbians who want to make every element of life a social issue in the ongoing culture war. That’s sure as frick not what she signed up for in 2019
A firm voice of sanity infuriates the players. A full enabler makes the league a laughing stock even bigger than it’s become. I just can’t put her on any “worst” lists because I can’t imagine anyone successfully threading that needle

Could be worse. Careful what you wish for. You know the leftists will demand a super DEI hire and protest, riot and “boycott” if they don't get it. I don’t hold out much hope that the replacement will be any better, and could possibly be even worse than the existing worthless corpse. Fingers crossed and hope springs eternal I guess.

:She raised $875 million".........Safe to assume that with basically all the players in the League ardently disliking her ( go back & look back at all their comments about her during the CBA negotiations ) she did not have the players' backing. It was "stated", numerous times during those negotiations, that Clark & Reese played huge roles during those negotiations, specially in regards to improving the players traveling in charter planes as opposed to all the inconveniences in flying on regular domestic planes. They also played huge roles in improving the players hotel residences.

Any guesses who will hire her next?
