Tiger, Jordan, Brady, Messi?

Messi and Gretzky are the best two ever for team sports

Gretzky and Phelps are pretty unassailable as greatest “GOATs” in any sport

I've heard of him, but not even sure his sport. Sounds foreign.

Gretzky is team GOAT based around dominance compared to #2.
Tiger, Bolt, Mondo and Phelps tops among individual dominance
Jordan is the GOAT other GOATs proclaim the GOAT. He inspires the most "awe" from even the greatest of athletes.
Messi being the GOAT of the most popular sport in the worlds history does mean something.

Dude walks around half the time, then he turns on tGOAT machine and kills it
Brilliant... and i absolutely HATE soccer, but he figured out his formula for success

Messi has to be up there… not just that his teams win but the impact he’s had and his longevity… most soccer players are done long before 39 but Messi’s trying to win one more World Cup
And people make jokes about Messi walking and Argentina’s team running for him, about being fresher because (of course) he plays in MLS… he’s winning there too

I think Jordan would have to be included too

The only difference is how much of the world cares about Hockey? Messi became the GOAT in a sport that 95% of the world wants to be the GOAT in. Gretzky did it in a sport that only Canada would pick as the most important.

Lebron is significantly closer to Jordan (or ahead depending on your school of thought) than anyone is to Messi fwiw

On the basketball court, it’s razor thin between Jordan and LeBron if we’re being honest. Jordan is a better winner than LeBron, but LeBron has better longevity, physical ability and statistics.
Where Jordan crushes LeBron, and just about everyone else, is as a pop culture icon.

Jordan crushes LeBron between the ears my friend.

Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic deserve to be in this conversation.
Roger will always be my tennis GOAT as he made the game look so easy and effortless and awed you every match.
Rafa and Djoker came along and took things to the next level with their endurance and sheer will to grind things out.
The general public needs to put more respeck on tennis players' name as the sport is a brutal grind and yall normies don't get it. *Pride bat signal*

Messi has more competition due to how many more people play, this is true. But hockey is a significantly more demanding sport, and far more violent. People were trying to headhunt Gretzky for two decades, when that was completely legal in hockey, and no one could touch him. And Gretzky wasn't a goal scorer - he was a playmaker. He has more assists than anyone else has *points*, and still he was the goal scoring GOAT until Ovechkin.
Gretzky, Messi, Jordan are all top-tier, and didn't have rules specifically designed to protect them (looking at you, Brady). All three won everything there was to win, while making their teammates significantly better in the process.

What are his accolades
Know very little about him

The way Pogacar has dominated cycling the last few years is on par with what anybody has done in the history of sports.
In a sport that's had a clear cut GOAT like Jordan or Gretzky for 50 years, he's become the best.

Everyone forgets Pele
He was instrumental in winning 3 World Cups. Whereas back in the late 60s and early 70s he played mostly professionally in Brazil rather than Europe
1,279 verified goals over his career
But internationally until recently, if you were to ask people in Europe, the Americas and Africa and maybe Japan .......Ali was revered

Messi isnt just be best player at soccer he's the 3 best players, goals, assists, and carrying the ball forward. Gretzky is the only comparison given Messi's assists in addition to his goals.
