This is a good point. Every August we all can't wait to watch a new season of Hard Knocks. Apart of that is watching some guy cry on national tv because he just got cut.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but that's the truth.
A key difference here is Hard Knocks is the NFL, guys vying for an opportunity to play in the league. This is a kid getting kicked off the team and losing his opportunity at an education. I see no problem with what occurred, or how it occurred, but broadcasting it crosses a line IMO. This kid is now "that guy" and the damage has been exacerbated because of Prime's ego. A hard knocks style show for college athletics shows administration and coaches with zero care for the athletes. Nothing more than a money grab by adults who should be more concerned with developing men than they are about getting a spotlight.

He did the same thing at Jackson St. And with NIL and the transfer portal, players know what Deion is about and how he runs his program and if they don't want to be a part of it they can transfer out (some have). A lot of the kids like this aspect and want to be a part of it, as it gets them more exposure and social media followers themselves. And a program like Colorado who is an afterthought can benefit a lot from it. You could also argue Prime wants to send his players to the NFL and stuff like this is part of being in the league, so they'll be more used to it when they get there because of it.

Also, let's not forget, these guys are getting millions now and they can enter the portal when they want and get a higher payday. The athletes have the upper hand now, not the coaches. So if he wants to act like this kids will up and leave for a bigger payday elsewhere.

Pure trash to wreck any human being like that PUBLICLY. That's not being a leader of men.
I don’t like that this happened and I’m a pretty big Deion supporter.
With that said, when a kid gets thrown off the team, it’s out in the publicsphere immediately. It may or may not be true, but wasn’t there a sex party rumor tied to Kayshon Boutte here recently? That’s humiliating way to end your college career. How can something like that be leaked?
This kid was a POS to his teammates and to the structure of the program.
No one is going to agree 100% how to handle this. But this isn’t 100% wrong or right either.

it's hard for me to have a strong opinion on this w/o knowing the kid's history. he may have been a real POS who deserved the public shame for all i know.
just generalizing, if you are dumb enough to get kicked off of an HBCU team than they probably fricked up pretty bad.
Just a guess.

I never said I didn't get it, only that it is IMO not in the best interest of the student-athletes. There are positives, but once again IMO, the negatives outweigh the positives and detract from what college was meant to be for these athletes. It is supposed to be a way to get an education and develop as a man, not to be NFL or bust.

Praise in public, kick arse in private. No need to embarrass.

These aren't "kids." They are college athletes who, by and large, are playing for themselves and their blood families to get to the next level. They don't have loyalty for the most part to the institution that they play for, just the ones that pay them.
You want to be a man? If you can't handle the consequences of being a man, don't play. If you've been warned in private and given a chance to redeem yourself and you still spit in the face of the coach, don't be surprised when you get called out for it.

NIL, transfer portal, and corporate sponsors for bowls and season openers and on-campus stadiums have already taken a dump on "what college was meant to be for these athletes" so spare me that. LSU sometimes brands itself as "NFLSU". The best players in CFB have NFL aspirations, and if you want to get them on your team you have to sell recruits on if you come play here we'll help you accomplish that goal. That's what Colorado hired Prime to do, get better players on campus that they haven't been able to get in forever.

As a leader, this is bad and send the wrong message to future players. I understand the Prime brand and his ego its about him, but you cannot post videos about doing it the right way all the time, then not do it the right way yourself.

I have no beef with it other than:
A) Own the decision. Get the players input but don’t be like “they voted, you out”. You decide, Prime.
B) Again, no problem doing this in front of the team but ffs, why are we seeing this? That’s something that should be 100% in-house.

so spare me that
11K+ FBS Scholarship athletes every year, ~3K leave every year.
~1,700 NFL players every year, 10 yr avg is 746 open positions for new players.
So less than 25% of FBS athletes will be on an NFL roster for even a single season. Of those most will be out of the league and part of the 746 by their third season, ~90%.
So over 97% of FBS athletes are in the real world by age 25. Apologies for having an expectation that coaches and admin making six, seven, eight figures give two shites about them.
I get guys wanting the spotlight, and the professionalization of amateur athletes. That said count me in the number that don't care to see CFB turn into even more of a three ring circus with stuff like this.

Who doesn’t like adult leadership singling out and humiliating college kids in front of their peers while having it videoed?
If we had more adults do this, maybe parents, this next generation would be more tolerable.

As college becomes more and more the NFL development league with players getting so much money, I will care less about this kind of exposure. I wouldn't want to see this happen to an Arkansas player though. No matter what they did.

Getting the team to vote on the issue? Fine.
Cutting the guy in front of the team after you've done your (presumed) due diligence? Ok I guess.
Airing the young man's dirty laundry out for the world to see, forever? 100% not OK.
I hope the dude has someone to turn to, because shame and anger together tend to create REAL problems.
