This board is constantly saying all these coddled kids need to be taught real discipline, we get video of a kid learning the hard way if you frick around you'll find out, and now y'all don't like it?

you seem to think there's only 2 ways of doing things, whichever is at each extreme end of the spectrum.

You do realize that the kid can be taught a hard lesson (being cut, and having it done in front of his team and coaches) while at the same time not have it be broadcast on twitter for the whole world to see where it can be viewed for eternity, right?

the issue isn't the team vote, it's the broadcasting.

What would you think if the Miles team vote was broadcast publicly on social media?

Have no problem with the team vote or that the kid was cut in front of the team, I do feel uneasy about it being recorded for the public though.

exactly, idk why some people aren't grasping that that's the major turning point in this whole thing. It went from "hard learned life lesson combined with shame from it being done in from of teammates" to "what else can I do as coach to put my personal brand out there and get people talking about me?"

Not cool coach prime ! I won't watch it. But you don't film it and post it on social media.

Um, its a hard knocks style show on amazon.

He neither filmed it himself, not did he post it on social media.

IT WAS FILMED FOR A TV SHOW. PRIME DID NOT PUT IT OUT ON SOCIAL MEDIA.

It's not like it was a unanimous or large majority vote. A significant portion of the team thought he deserved another shot. Seems like Deion already had his mind made up and was doing it all for the camera.

At least he didn't allegedly lock a famous person's kid in a utility closet.

I don’t really give a shite if he didn’t film it or post it on social media.

He cut a kid in front of his team. Whether he was a shitheel or not, you do it in private. Same as in the NFL, same as in nearly every job.

Take a team vote, who cares. But tally in private and then cut the kid in private. Cutting the kid in private, explaining why you are doing it, and extolling some wisdom on the kid in the process could go a long way to getting him on the right path.

But he chose to shame this kid, which will only serve to make this kid angry and more of an issue wherever he goes.

I didn’t like it, meet with the kid in your office to dismiss him from the team. There was no need to humiliate him in front of the team, how it got to social media doesn’t matter but it did. Not a good start IMHO. A unique way to build trust, respect, and loyalty.

Pure trash to wreck any human being like that PUBLICLY. That's not being a leader of men. That's being an ego-driven tyrant. Take a team vote if you want, throw his arse off the team if you want, but don't humiliate anybody. EVER. In any walk of life. Always allow a man to preserve his dignity. Or don't be surprised when that shite comes back at you in a VERY destructive way.

On another note, if I may. As a 10 year Buffs season ticket holder when they were a perennial top 10 team and winning championships and Heisman's and who understands the culture of Boulder, good fricking luck with that shite. I wish him well, but he better understand the kind of semi-retarded, non-winning people he's about to be dealing with.

Had this happen in HS on our Varsity BB team. Coach held a meeting with all the players minus the kid in question. We voted to keep him on the team or kick him off. Ultimately we chose to kick him off the team and the coach gave that explanation to that kid in private. That's how you handle it.

I actually like the way it was handled. He preaches family, so he included the whole family in the decision. No secret votes, no one left wondering or speculating where each other stood on the issue.

I don't agree with videoing and making it public.

This is a good point. Every August we all can't wait to watch a new season of Hard Knocks. Apart of that is watching some guy cry on national tv because he just got cut.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but that's the truth.

He did meet with him in private. He said he already spoke to the kid multiple times. The kid already knew he was skating on thin ice.
