Where did you go to college?

I earned my degree of bachelor of arts from Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College - Baton Rouge Campus.

It's one campus of nine, with others including:
Louisiana State University Agricultural Center - Baton Rouge
Louisiana State University of Alexandria
Louisiana State University at Eunice
Louisiana State University Shreveport
LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans
LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport
Paul M. Hebert Law Center Baton Rouge
and the
Pennington Biomedical Research Center - Baton Rouge

The University of Louisiana System (UL System) is also made up of nine instituions:
Grambling State University
Louisiana Tech University
McNeese State University
Nicholls State University
Northwestern State University
Southeastern Louisiana University
University of Louisiana at Lafayette
University of Louisiana at Monroe
and
University of New Orleans

Where did you get your degree from? Was it one of these institutions that make up the University of Louisiana System?

The article quoted:
quote:

University of Louisiana athletics operated at a $5.3 million deficit for fiscal year 2022

So I assume the author meant the entire university system, since he did not mention any particular institutions by name. Would that not be a safe assumption?

The worst piece of these reports is they rarely, if ever, account for the value of the national media/marketing exposure due to national vs. cable vs. online.

So when they say an athletic dept. or school "lost" that money, it's disingenuous.

This will be of great value to them as they look at what and who has to be eliminated.

I have an undergraduate degree from UL and a professional degree from LSU. Did a Ragin Cajun take your girl? You get drunk and whine late at night about the Cajuns. Odd behavior.

When i was at ULM it annoyed me a bit but at the end of the day yall did what yall did and we didnt stop it so hats off to you. I dont understand getting worked up about it.

And where is that again? According to Act 45 of the Louisiana Legislature, no member institution of the University of Louisiana system would refer to themselves as anything minus "UL" and then the city that campus resides in.

Losing money is losing money no matter how you spin it. Your Athletics Department shouldn't be a loss leader.

Get over it, so damn insecure. You morons have been fighting this for 50+ years. Here’s a quote from the LSU Chancellor in 1984.

“LSU Chancellor Wharton says he fought the USL name change because it was threatening LSU’s dominion as the “flagship” university.

Giving it a new name alone would increase USL’s ability to compete for national attention in academics and funding and “we cannot take very much more competition,” Wharton said. “If it leads to further competition, I don’t think LSU can survive as the flagship university”.

It’s a wonder why Louisiana is dead last in most nationwide state metrics and we are bleeding educated citizens to other states.

Don't shoot the messenger. There were rules. And UL-L agreed to those rules, did they not?

really only like the top 36-40 make any money but overall exposure is worth it for most schools.

example is alabama's growth during sabans time, both in enrollment and out of state enrollment. not to mention the growth of t-town, especially around the campus.

hell look at LSU 25 years ago before saban vs now in regards to what has been built around the campus and the growth around the campus.

also its title ix that kills most schools.

According to the article they were getting 1.5 mil in ticket revenue in 2021 during the Napier era where they were paying him 2.5 mil in salary.

So they're just not really that great at money management.

Can't wait for the state to have to feed them cash for their "privately funded" football renovation (we heard that about the baseball stadium that they bonded out as well)

But would that not have happened if Bama and LSU were average programs?

Have you stepped foot in a LSU classroom lately, or even the library. It’s honestly disgusting that the “Flagship” school of Louisiana is allowed to operate with the state of those buildings.

It’s bad? My son is a freshman there. I’m gonna spend a lot of my money there.

I think Lafayette is just in a bad spot. Who are they going to pull outside of locals to support their team. Baton Rouge is just in a better spot. They pull New Orleans and west and north. It’s just a better product and experience and most people can only do one.

Lafayette has also had a huge influx of people moving in from elsewhere in the state over the last decade or two that have no ties to ULL. I’m one of those people. No hate, but don’t really have any connection to the teams. I’ll take the kids every once in awhile to see a game, but if I really want to watch a game it’s in Death Valley.

Fix the shithole cities, and the campuses and athletics will fix themselves.

And, I was born at Lafayette General.
