It’s just too bad that you can’t get anybody else interested in ull besides people who do it to mock them.

I like to know what my tax money pays for.

In this case it's to a 6 win sun belt team that brought 14k to a bowl game in it's own state

To be fair, UL is the only football program outside LSU to represent Louisiana and finish top 20 over consecutive seasons in the last 90 years. If it was a popularity contest everyone in Louisiana loses all the time except for LSU.

The Cajuns regularly post top 25 attendance in baseball & softball. Football has had good attendance years in the past and holds the Nola bowl and SBC championship game crowd records. The big issue is getting consistent attendance in basketball/football which is an issue for every school not named LSU in Louisiana.

Don’t let the LSU faithful try to kid you. Go to any game that isn’t a top 10 ranked SEC opponent or Alabama, and LSU has the same attendance issues as everyone else in the country. With the rising cost of attendance, and extended access through media, fan apathy will only continue to increase. UL just sent out the new pricing for tickets and tailgate spots with the cost increasing significantly if I’m reading it correctly. Combined with the losing seasons and the half demolished stadium, they are picking the wrong time to hike the cost of attendance.

Sell out crowds against top 10 Auburn and top 10 sun belt Billy’s Florida gators. I think the only one you are kidding is yourself.
LSU sells 98% of tickets
ULL sells 40% of tickets.

Was LSU'S biggest revenue stream money given to them by the school? Did they lose 8 million on football like ULL?

Did LSU lose money? Is LSU’s athletic budget 5 times larger than UL’s and still lost money?

Cast the first stone.

Having grown up in Lafayette and gone to USL, I never could understand why that school didn’t have more support in the town.
If you look at the list, ULL is 8th in the Sunbelt in total revenue. Most of the schools ahead of them are in much smaller towns.

Most of those schools don't have the restrictions Papa LSU puts on regional universities. They can have student fees that go directly into the Athletic Fund. Louisiana can't. Huge disadvantage from a bloated purple monolith that can't stand even the smallest successes from it's underlings...yet they want to beat their chest about coming in 4th to schools that don't have state monopolies.

ULL athletics got $16.5 million in direct support from the institution - the school (plus more in indirect support from school), did not have any line 50 excess transfers going back to the school, and still lost over $8 million for the fiscal year. Over 50% of ULL Athletics revenue is funded by the school.

LSU athletics got $0 from the school, had line 50 excess transfers going to the school totaling $5.24 million (in past it was revenue sharing and/or gifts to the school), and after that transfer to the school LSU athletics went from having a net positive of $1.37 million to having the $3.87 million deficit. The excess transfer isn’t considered an operating expense or a reduction in revenue like transfers to reimburse a school for direct and indirect revenue support.

LSU athletics loss was the school’s gain. ULL athletics loss was just more losing for the school for 2nd year in a row.

ULL directly supported ULL athletics with $16 million in 2023, and ULL athletics also had nearly $500,000 collected from student fees listed in their audit for 2023.

LSU had $0 for both in their audit for 2023.

Each university in the UL System is allowed to transfer up to 3% of the General Fund for athletics. I’m not sure what LaTech, ULM or any other university transfers, but UL only uses 2% of the General Fund transfer.

When the athletic department runs at a deficit the deficit is covered by the remaining 1% of the General Fund.

Are you positive that's the percentage? Because if that's the case then the general fund at ULL is 850MM when the ULS system wide total according to the BOR for FY22-23 was only 962MM... that doesn't compute or has some very Louisiana accounting going on.
