Look at the brick work around campus. It all has the UL interlocking. No lafayette to be found.
You have to look hard I think. It might be small print.

If Louisiana became acceptable for ULL's team, would you be fine with ULM using Louisiana as well?

It isno different than McDonald's calling themselves Mickey D's but legally they are still McDonald's.
but there is also no state legislature that has specifically said they can't change their name to mickey d's.
The state legislature has laid it out, that in order to use to the UL moniker, they had to use the geographical designation. They said okay, and they've been working ever since to find every possible workaround to drop wherever they can.

If they wanted to, sure. But they have branded themselves ULM. ULL/UL/Louisiana did not force ULM to use that moniker and waited for years until they went after the UL brand.
LSU fans wouldn't complain as much probably either, due to proximity. That's part of the issue.

It is completely different because that example is not the same as ULL and ULM.

no they didn't. they went after it, the state said no. so they just kinda laid low, and now they are going after it again while seemingly no one is paying attention to thme.

It's the exact thing. Were talking a single school not two schools. The schools are seperate.

They waited. You just posted as much.

You proved in that one sentence what UL is trying to do.
Yea. Their name is the University of Loiuisiana at Lafayette. Except they don't that to be their name. They want to be The University of Louisiana. Hence why they cried to ESPN. Hence their local papers dailey articles on the topic. Hence this thread and the 4,000 others on this topic. When you have a given name and you alter said name, you changed your fricking name. The problem is the name they want to change to creates a lot of conflict (see the above ^ hences). It ruffles feathers. It's supposed to be against the rules according to the legislature of this State. There are several other state universities who oppose it. Think it's a slap in the face. They don't like it. Neither would ULL if the shoe was on the other foot. The controversy is over the NAME ULL wants to be called. SMS151t can call it a brand on TigerDropping.com till he/she is blue in the face. It doesn't change the FACTS of what is taking place. But it does make SMS151t look dumb. So at least that part is cool.

What does that prove? I was only saying the ONLY reason they waited is because they got denied the first time. This was always their plan. They have the end game of being UL, that's all there is to it. They waited til everything died down, and now they are pushing at it again.
It doesn't matter that they waited, ULM went along with them, and established themselves in accordance with the law. ULL did, and now they are changing their mind, and breaking the spirit of the law in the process.

Tabby Soignier (beat writer in Monroe) wrote a lengthy article in the News Star that made the front page about this. She graduated from LSU.
I've never seen a ULM fan or school representative go that far to press the issue, frankly because they seem content with the bed they've made. I think the real outcry is coming from LSU because little brother is growing out of his hand-me-downs, and they're getting a little worried about dealing with actual competition 10+ years down the road.

Do you want an apology from Cajun fans for trying to overcome the choke-hold LSU has had over higher education since the late 1920s?
Well sorry. Sorry for fighting the good fight.
