Did Utah claim a NC in 2008? They beat 4 ranked teams that year and won in a beatdown in the Sugar Bowl. To me, they have more of a claim than UCF to a NC. Florida got beat by Ole Miss that year and Utah was the only undefeated team.

Obviously I wouldn't bet on them still being undefeated, but I also feel like you and others who just throw that cliche line out there haven't watched UCF extensively this season. They didn't look like the gimmicky Boise teams of the past. They were not the undefeated WMU of last season. They looked like a legit team with a bunch of men running around there. They were absolutely good enough to be an 11-1 or 10-2 type team playing a Bama or Georgia schedule.

I do think UCF is doing this as a shot to the committee for having them ranked very low throughout the year.
Scott Frost came out and said that he thought the purposely kept them low in the rankings to eliminate any chance if them making the playoffs.

There was an objective system that year, wasn't the case this season.
Hope all the posters that are able to determine Auburn's level of motivation made a fortune on Monday, that +9.5 was easy money then. But they were probably the same people that thought UCF was going to get smashed because they never watched them play.

UCF’s opponents on average 5.7 losses this year. This is from an AAC schedule with an FCS team on it

Motivation is never a factor in regular season games since you’re still “making your case”. That’s not the case in bowl games.
