If he was a little more quiet about his beliefs, this theory would have never come about. He very open about hating the gays, so rumors are going to fly.

This is my "hysterical rant." Kindly point out which part is false:
quote:

Don't take AIH seriously. He's a douchey faux-intellectual who constantly says really ignorant shite on his specific pet topics. One is viciously attacking any openly Christian sports figure every chance he gets.

He mocks Tony Dungy as a father because his son committed suicide every chance he gets and gleefully wears it as a badge of honor that posters on this site who have some desire to maintain a modicum of taste and decency are offended by it. Religious intolerance at its finest.

I'm perfectly fine w/ this. But it is in poor taste. And the guy doing it in this case is just a hateful bastard.

Nah, I don't hate Tony Dungy. I feel sorry for him deep down. Especially when he dies, finds out there's no heaven, and that he drove his son to suicide for absolutely no reason.

Doh!

If you really felt sorry for the guy you probably wouldnt make those tasteless comments. Especially when there is very little merit to the theory that his son was gay.

You know what? I think that you two are right. I'm overboard on the Tony Dungy shite and I'll step back from it.

I just think that he's a huge hypocrite and it bugs me that people don't get that, but it's a little low and I'll refrain from now on.

But I am eternally disappointed in Rex Ryan for pussing out over Tony's "f word" criticism. I thought Rex was hard core.

We live in a country that explicitly has a separation of church and state

Yet there's still stuff like "in God we trust" and "one nation, under God" (unless you think those should be disbanded). There's not a full separation (maybe there should be, but there's not).

quote:

If someone went around saying they think women who committed adultery should be stoned to death because of their religion, would that be cool too?

The Supreme Court ruled in 93 on a case about an animal sacrifice argument. They gave the Church that was doing that authority to continue to do so. In it, they said that religions have a freedom to an extent, which included allowing the sacrifice of an animal. Obviously, murdering a person is beyond that extent. However, giving gays the same rights under a "civil union", as marriage but not calling it a marriage (I think marriage is a term between a man and a woman) is not even close to murder, and to say such is lunacy.

HH, I don't want to get into a huge debate on here. Leave that to the Poly board (I don't post much on that board for a reason, so I'm just going to leave it with this post, and be done and move on to threads about sports on the MSB, what this board is for). I'm just saying if gay people who are friends (and you can say "that doesn't mean anything" but I'm pretty sure that since it's THEM we're talking about, their opinion means more than yours) disagree with my thoughts, but still respect my views, understand where I'm coming from, and (again, while they disagree) don't have a problem with my views, yes, I do think that says a lot.

ETA: And BTW, it's not like I'm raising funds for this, or anything. This isn't some huge deal/cause I'm going to go fighting for, it's just my opinion on the subject. If it happens, it happens. Like I said, yes, I'd prefer it not, but I'm not going to lose sleep over it, like a person like Dungy might.

If you're being serious that's great, atleast you're man enough to admit it.

If he is dead, there is no heaven, he isn't going to know anything, chief.

Dungy speaks his mind. You don't like it, I don't necessarily agree with it all. Its his right and the man has guts, sticks to his convictions. We get it, you hate his religion because it seems to be against the gays....

I've almost made this thread a couple of times over the last week. I am indeed sick of his self-righteous morality bleeding all over my sports page lately. Tony, you may be a wonderful man, but now that you're retired, you are no longer relevant. Nobody (outside of the the media who are too scared to do anything save kiss your arse)cares what you have to say about anything.

All people who oppose inter racial marriage are racist, just as all people who oppose gay marriage are anti gay. Period. When Prop 8 goes to the SC, Loving v Virginia will be one of the decisions that will be a factor. The same arguments against interracial marriages are being used against gay marriages.

I think someone can be "anti-gay" without hating gay people.

Damn I never thought about that. It's true though.

Yep. Especially the fact that he didn't raise his voice or curse. That took courage in the macho world of football.

I think that's an over-statement. the words husband and wife traditionally have a male and female definition... so people who don't take the step of removing those sexual definitions are not necessarily against gays

I do think eventually there will be gay marriage all over the US and it will largely be a "who cares"

quote:

I think someone can be "anti-gay" without hating gay people.

? You mean like those who say they hate the sin but love the sinner? I usually think those people are lying and homophobic (and/or in the closet themselves)

I don't know if it would make sense to say you were anti Mexicans but don't hate Mexicans
