Since 1995 Tulane has hired
Bowden - Coordinator
Scelfo - OL Coach, never a coordinator anywhere
Toledo - A coordinator at the time but with HC experience
CJ - WR Coach. Never a coordinator at any level
Fritz - Longtime HC
Sumrall - HC experience
The only “learning on the job” coordinator was arguably the best coach they’ve had.
The last HC hire for Ohio State, Oregon and UGA all coordinators with 0 HC experience

What’s the blueprint? Other than being successful sitting head coaches, Sumrall and Fritz have nothing in common. And Napier doesn’t fit that bill. He’s not a sitting head coach. Just got fired actually. So not that successful either.

I think Tulane is prepared to be replacing him in 2-3 years. They knew that would be the case with Sumrall. They’d be foolish to look for someone who’s going to stay a long time

Nobody should give a shite about what a team is ranked when you play them, if that ranking proves to be way off at the end of the season.
