As a USC fan do you like the Big 10 or hate it?
My outside looking in opinion is it looks like the Big 10 expansion has been good for the old guard Midwest team but bad for the west coast

I posted earlier that there are 5 million people within a 30-minute drive of USC on a Saturday. There have to be at least 1-2 million like me that aren't doing shite.

Me too. I wish conferences were geographical again. No amount of conference realignment will make my alma mater not suck at football.

You have to go on a Pete Carroll type run to get people to show up to these kind of games and they are not unique in this situation. Miami has had their issues in this regard

Through the 90s USC was a party school for rich kids. In the 90s leadership decided to aggressively pursue academic prestige. That focus started to materially take effect as the Carroll era wound down in the 00s
Today the undergrad student body is 10% US-born white male

Now consider that 10% leans towards dorks
20 years later the crowds make complete sense. And the older fans (if they’re even in SoCal) don’t feel as connected to the school they went to. They don’t get the experience of a 50yo in Baton Rouge going to campus and having as much fun as they did 30 years ago. They go into a void. The passion inevitably fades and it’s a fandom death spiral with no escape. That picture isn’t a mistake, that’s what USC will always be going forward
Miami went through the same thing at essentially the same time, and now we have the same photos there. Georgia Tech an era earlier. Now each has student bodies with as much organic interest towards football as the traditional Rice or Tulane student

Whatever the demographics, students show up about as well as they do, and maybe better, than most other big city schools. If USC becomes a top 3 team every year or at least a perennial playoff team, fans will show up. Same for UCLA.
L.A. has lots of casual fans. They aren't rabid like you might be used to. If there's a good product, they'll go.
LA's most rabid fans in football, basketball, and baseball are probably Hispanic. But they mostly aren't college football fans unless they went to the school.

The announcers for this game just said USC is going to be a team to be reckoned with. They won by 16 when favored by almost 39. Their defense is not very good. I’m sure the 1000’s of fans were upset.
