Still when teams play garbage opponents with a point spread of 30+ points, interest is just off. Same with SEC schools to a point. Fans just don't get fired up as they would against a big time opponent that is promising to be a competitive game.

The LSU fans are a great example. In these kinds of games, by the second half Tiger Stadium is half empty, and if the score isn't 40-0, the Rant is full of posters demanding the coach be fired.

USCs primary problem is their administration stopped giving a frick about football for years

And so did the student body...and the alumni that might bankroll the program like other universities in the SEC.

Its a lot of factors and yes USC being mediocre to some good years for the last 15 years obviously doesnt help.

But ultimately USC wants to be an international university and as the years go by fewer and fewer football people are around.

Even the 10% of white guys that go to USC are probably not football fans and I would guess they're private school NE kids.

LSU fans will definitely leave early but they'll show up for the game. With the exception of looming natural disaster, nobody in the SEC would have a crowd that shitty for a season opener, doesn't matter the opponent. That level of crowd apathy is really only a California thing. Stanford probably made that USC crowd look huge.

those fricks are still claiming the '03 natty

The one everyone in the country knew was the rightful claim and by far the best team, and didn't have to beat a team who lost to Kansas State and didn't even win their won conference to claim a title everyone knew was bogus?

That title?

Sad news, but everyone outside of "da Boot" thinks the Saban 03 claim only half-counts and SC was the rightful champion that year.

I think peak CFB is in our rear view mirror. I hardly watch all the games like I used to just 5 years ago. Players getting paid had a lot to do with that on top of advertisements being shoved down our throat every 5 minutes. I think the average fan is not happy with where the sport is headed and you’ll get a lot of stadiums looking like this in the fall, especially with lower tier games

I wonder how their attendance was for the 2004 season after winning a national title in 2003.

Imagine being a grown man and caring about other fan bases.
Well, you see, some programs are a thing that is generally called relevant , where fans of other programs keep their eye on what’s going on with that program.

Being a fan of USL, I can see how that concept is completely alien to you.

Hell, my Dad went there in the mid 80's when we played there he said the stadium was half full then. College athletics is not that important to them out there.
