This is false, Texas fans were furious in Fayetteville, not for the arse whipping they received, but for my buddy’s 11 year old son doing the horns down. Tapping him on the shoulder telling him it was rude. They almost got their arse handed to them, but they left and never came back to their seats. Cowards

You sure showed them

Exactly. But it sounds better to build up the "Texas is in for a rude awakening" narrative so the first game UT loses in any major sport, the knuckleheads will have their piñata to whack away at.

Nice to see yall delusional as ever.

I said it before and I’ll say it again UT is soft as cotton. Their fans are in for a rude awakening. I’m not saying they aren’t going to win some games but many think they are going to come in and dominate.

The crazy thing is Oklahoma fans are 100x the pussy Texas fans are

There aren't pinatas in the SEC outside of your state.

Remembering NFL Lite:
Thirty or so years ago, the NFL had a brief idea that they would punish the home team if too much noise were made when the other team had the ball.

You could have predicted how a NOLA audience would respond to the threat of punishing the already losing Saints.

Audiences don't like to be told what they can't do. The NCAA needs to be reminded as most of football history was missed by their heads being in places where the sun has never shone..

I would not be surprised if it plays out the other way. NCAA is transitioning to become NFL-Lite. I suspect part of that transition will be to 'polish up' some it's more 'unrefined' fanbases. Passing rules to protect brands like UT would not shock me.

The UT campus on game day looks like NLF lite. Their tailgating felt completely corporate and not at all like a college experience.

For whatever reason some admins and the men’s basketball coach are easily triggered by this and yes it’s about the dumbest thing ever.

Didn’t they make it some big deal in football too?

ETA:

Yep, they made the Big 12 make it a penalty Damn they are some weak people.

quote:

The Horns down symbol is not only used by fans, but players as well during games. The Big 12 conference actually declared the gesture by players during games to be an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty beginning in 2019.

Also, uh oh horns:

SEC coordinator of officials hints conference won't be as strict penalizing 'Horns Down' gesture as Big 12

Fwiw, both Georgia and Tennessee have gotten penalties for mocking the Gator chomp so it’s not solely a Texas thing.

Their baseball team had a meltdown a few years ago when they visited Columbia and got heckled all series. It was hilarious. They are gigantic pussies

This is how you deal with with hecklers:

With the game tied 1-1 in the seventh inning, Arkansas baseball sophomore Robert Moore approached the plate as South Carolina student fans rained down chants of “Oompa Loompa” on him to make fun of his 5’9" stature. Christian Franklin stood at first after leadoff single.

Result: a two-run moon blast and “hush” to the crowd by Moore on way to No. 1 Arkansas’ 6-1 win over No. 11 South Carolina.

Maybe you don't care and some other message board frequenters that have thicker skin don't care. And honestly and sincerely, good for you guys for recognizing how dumb it is to make a big deal out of it.

But there are plenty of fans, especially ones that go to the games, that do get triggered by it. And unfortunately for you, those paying fans, admins, and coaches are the ones with the most influence and loudest voices. Maybe the fans that don't care need to inform the rest that it looks weak as hell to get so bothered by it.
