Billy Cannon was the best high school player I ever witnessed.

No clue. I’ve only ever seen his name in record books and a newspaper clip about him at Kurt Hester’s training place. Never knew the guy.
I was in HS when Matt Forte played for Slidell and a kid named Christian Ducree played at Fontainebleau. I had a few friends that played on the defensive line, two of which went to small D1 schools and they said those two dudes would make you miss in a phone booth.

Jamie Spencer.... OPHS Class of '95
He was/is just as great of a guy off the field as he was a player on the field.
An absolute beast, wrecking ball at FB/RB for us all 3 years he played varsity.
- We made it to the semi's our freshman year and lost to the eventual state champs - Thibodaux.
- Knocked out in the 2nd round our Sophomore year.
- Lost in the semi's in 1993 to Destrehan. West Monroe went on to win their 1st one that year.... and we had beaten them at their place earlier in the season.
- Lost in the finals in 1994 to Hahnville.
That was back when District 2 ruled 4A/5A.... in the 90's. We had a team in the finals or winning the state championship ever year from like 1989 through 1999.

It was a joke for the guy that graduated with them. And it made me laugh, so

I know most of those cats and thought it was funny. Marzula was a hell of a DB though...
Now go back a few years before years earlier and OPHS had some legends in Glen Ellis and Connie Ray Wilson...

Blake Matherne Belle Chasse 2008- 50 Total TD's and put that team on his back to win a State Title.

We did. Those cats were before my time....
Ole Mike Vallery.... he had a damn good run at Ouachita late 80's to mid 90's.
Won 1 state championship ('89) and lost in the finals once ('94).
Put us in the semi's I think 3 other years.

Sounds like I might know some of ya'll ....
And you are correct, Ouachita hasn't beaten West Monroe in a football game since 1994.... our senior year there.
