After attending a barons game (AA white Sox) I decided that the pros of minor league baseball out weigh the cons, what say you?

PROS:
Much cheaper
Much easier to park
Much easier to get consessions/beer
Much less traffic

CONS:
I weaker on the field product

Feel free to add to my list

I went to my first independent league game a few weeks ago. I enjoyed the hell out of that.

The baseball is definitely worse but it wasn't like they were kicking the ball all over the place. But everything was so much cheaper.

I still like going to Cardinals games too.

I want to go to some affiliated minor league games too. Springfield mainly.

We have triple A ball team. The talent is decent, and we have a beautiful new park downtown.

The only issue is you really don't care if they win. Beer is still expensive ($8 for BMC) but they have done a dog every Monday home games, other food specials, 2 12oz craft beers for $10 on Friday, etc.

It's a fun time, not quite the same as a major league game, but for a lot less. And it's local.

This could be a pro.

It's also true for many MLB games this time of year.

No. But just did out of curiosity. 40-69. Worst team in the league.

Nice atmosphere, relaxed. easy-going fun, kids don't know or care it isn't MLB.

Note: Kids will always want the mini-bat from the gift shop above all other options. Do not buy, especially if you have multiple kids.

I worked in minor league baseball just after college. The dirty little secret is... We honestly don't care if the on-field product is any good. Just get em in the ballpark and get em to buy stuff.

Marketing and in-game entertainment is a MUCH bigger priority on that level. If the team is good that's just an extra.

We were a Low-A ball team and outdrew most AA teams around the country because we were so well run in the marketing/sales/PR department.

Saying all that, if the team is well run from a business standpoint you are going to have a really good time. It's essentially a huge, nice, outdoor bar with a game going on in the background.

Pros: get to see some good up and coming talent. Who knows, you might be watching a future hall of gamer on that field.

When Mobile won the Southern League a while back there was a lot of excitement about the team's succes but I agree, for the most part people dont care if the team wins or loses.
The promotions are fun. Fireworks every Friday, cheap beer Thursdays, cheap wine Wednesday, $1 hot dogs Monday, kids run the bases and play catch on Saturdays or Sundays. Great for families

To be fair, the Barons are easily one of the best minor league franchises around, period. And I don't mean best team, although they do win the southern league championship a fair amount.

What I mean is for fan experience. I doubt any other minor league stadium has a nicer stadium. It has the perfect location in the right size city for a minor league team. The Barons even have a better history than a lot of the "newer" major league teams. Going all the way back to the Negro League days of the Black Barons, even in modern times of being the minor league team that had Michael Jordan.

Barons are easily the GOAT minor league franchise.
