Aaron Curry.

He was seen as such a surefire NFL player, and for whatever reason it just didn't work out. Dude apparently worked his arse off too.

A lot of people say Tony Mandarich, be he actually went on to be a serviceable player for about 4 or 5 years.

Eric Fisher is pretty much the same was. No.1 overall pick that has hung around the league but made little impact. I’d say he’s worse than Mandarich.

Trent Richardson or Steve Emtman are probably the two biggest non-QB busts overall. Both out of the league within a couple years. I’d give it to Emtman though, because he was an overall no.1 pick.

Speaking of former Alabama running backs, I saw TJ Yeldon playing the other day and realized he was still around haha

Didn’t Emtman frick up his knee soon after signing?

That’s possible; been so long I don’t remember that well.

There really needs to be two categories; true busts and injury busts. Guys like Ki Jana Carter were absolutely electric when healthy, but he never recovered from a massive knee injury.

Then there guys like Gabe Rivera, the guy who the Steelers took in the first round back in ‘83 instead of Dan Marino. He never played a regular season down, after the draft he was driving drunk and was paralyzed in an accident.

Wiki says Emtman finished at least three seasons with the Colts on IR and implies that the Astroturf field at the RCA Dome had something to do with it.

This included blowing out his knee nine games into his rookie season and a patellar tendon tear in 1994, which no NFL player had ever returned from at that time.

Richardson is probably the best example.

OL Tony Mandarich
WR Charles Rogers
DL Dion Jordan
LB Aaron Curry
DB Bruce Pickens

I didn’t use injury as busting out

Emtman is a good one. I think he is a classic example of what roids can do -- you may gain a ton of muscle, but those tendons and joints can't always handle it.

to be fair, even OSU fans said he sucked. It was just one dumb arse organization that put blinders on and hoped he'd figure it out.

Biggest bust to me would be someone who had basically unanimous approval as a prospect and then just sucked

This is a perfect example of what happens when teams fall in love with Combine numbers while ignoring the glaring lack of college production.

I mean Fisher is a 2X Pro-Bowl player. I've seen tons of guys who are in this thread who have never done anything

He’s started 113 games, been to 2 pro bowls and was the LT in a Super Bowl winner...

How about Robert Gallery Iowa OL #2 overall to da Raiders?

Was also seen as a surefire can't miss OL prospect.

He had a similar tragetory as Eric Fisher. He ended up turning into a solid starter in the back half of his career

He switched to guard at the end of his raiders run and his play improved greatly, which lead to him signing a relatively nice free agent deal with Seattle

Same with Ki-Jana Carter.

Dan Wilkerson, Bengals had back-to-back "busts." He had a decent career but not a 1st pick career.

I will throw in Dion Jordan into the mix

Number 3 overall by the Dolphins, (ironically people argued whether he or Mingo was the best pass rusher in the draft)

Played all 16 games his rookie year but didn’t really do anything, then slapped with a suspension shortly after.

Ended up only starting 1 game for the Dolphins and 3 sacks during his time there.

He’s still technically in the league but has only started 4 games since he left the Dolphins and missed 3 seasons of football between the Dolphins and his next team
