Was his name Mike Williams, that reciever from USC? He was pretty bad. Also the other Williams from Texas, he was drafted by Detroit too wasn't he. He was pretty bad.

There are a ton of RB's who were busts. Main reason why they stopped getting drafted so high.

Benjamin looked promising in the beginning (if I recall, he was the #1 WR in CAR when Steve Smith got hurt) but it went downhill quick.

He was fine until he got fat and lazy.

Imagine what he could have done in both baseball and football if Bo Jackson hadn’t fricked up his hip

He still went on to play some in MLB but dude was an absolute beast until he got tackled on the sidelines

He destroyed the Boz when the raiders faced the Seahawks

Might be one of the best pieces of trivia in NFL history:

What inactive/injured player got in trouble for eating at the press buffet before/during a game?

Yeah, one of the better draft investigations done by teams.

Earlier this week, Winston’s quarterbacks coach revealed that the former Florida State star was told he was secretly shadowed by an NFL team on one of his combine flights. That story didn’t surprise former Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik, who said on Wednesday that he once had a scout camp out at former Oklahoma State star Justin Blackmon’s favorite campus bar.

“We found out there was a bar called the Cricket Inn or the Cricket, which was a popular bar there in Oklahoma State,” Dominik said on Colin Cowherd’s radio show. “He (the scout) sat there for one week, went in at 3 o’clock every day and stayed until 11 o’clock at night. That was his job, and we checked how many times did Justin Blackmon come in? And he came in too many times and we took him off our board.”

Blackmon was arrested for driving while under the influence when he was in college. He was also involved in some other minor incidents at Oklahoma State. Coincidentally, the Jaguars ended up trading their No. 7 overall pick and a fourth-round pick for Tampa Bay’s No. 5 overall pick, which they used to draft Blackmon.

He was a decent WR but Cowboys overpaid by trading a 1st rounder in a trade.

Pretty bad? You must not pay attention to much football.

Dude had 8 TDs each of his first two seasons and over 1300 yards and a pro bowl his third.

Did he reach the potential of the draft hype? No. But his name should be nowhere near this thread.

A couple of others I haven’t seen mentioned:

Gaines Adams (4th pick overall, out of league in 4 years)

Jason Smith (2nd pick overall, out of league in 4 years)

Mandarich is so bad he makes people forget Brent Fullwood that the Packers drafted #4 a few years before.

1800 yards in 4 years isn't much

If they picked a longer term position in 86 and anybody other than Mandarich when they picked him that could have been 2 more pro bowlers for the SB team in the mid 90's

That’s a good under the radar pick.

Curry was heralded as about a safe a pick as a top 10 guy could be - his floor was supposed to be 10 year starter

I always like posting this in these threads because a lot of people disagree. Hard to say “bust” for obvious reasons, but the biggest wasted draft pick of all time was Bo Jackson in 1986.

Tampa Bay took him first overall and he never even signed a contract with them. They took him on a trip that they told him was cleared by the NCAA which ended up costing him his senior baseball season at Auburn. He then flat out told them not to draft him because he wouldn’t play for them. They did anyway, and he kept his word. He went to play for the Royals instead.

Mike William the OT from Texas was pretty terrible. A straight RT in the top 5 and couldn’t even play that.

The next time someone tries to impress you by mentioning how many Pro Bowls a player has been to remind them that Brent Fullwood made a Pro Bowl.
