I know things change over time and nostalgia is strong, but this sucks and this new college football sucks. I'd rather go back to the old bowl system and old conferences, Big 10, ACC, SEC, Big 8, SWC, PAC 10, than this crap. Growing up in the 80's and into the 90's and early 2000's college football was far and away my favorite sport, but not anymore. This shite is damaged beyond repair.

while i may agree.....seems that most people like this new CFB as ratings are up pretty much across the board

It's sad, but this is the new reality. College football is a corporate TV sport now and it's all about the playoff. The Big Ten probably doesn't even want this rivalry anymore.

The whining about Notre Dame has far surpassed the whininess of the whining from Notre Dame.

ND got to get any competition off the schedule since they can’t lose two games and still get in

You make good points but they will be ignored because this board picks and chooses what it's outraged at.

Haha, thank you sir. Yeah, this board is extremely pissed that college football is losing tradition and expanding into mega-conferences… while simultaneously pissed that ND is trying to maintain tradition and not aid in the continued expansion/growth of mega-conferences.

The board thinks ND is cry babies for not playing in an exhibition (that has a life-sized sacrificed poptart) with mostly current backups and risking injuries to key 2026 contributors… while simultaneously thinking USC is doing the right thing of not maintaining the status quo of a century-long rivalry that they’re 1-7 in recently, because they (as reported) are worried about how a late-season loss looks to the CFP committee.

This board is not consistent in logic, just consistent in “frick ND!” Which, hey, at least that’s one remaining constant that should stand the test of time in this ever-changing college football world…

Hahahaha. The conference with:

Rutgers
UCLA
Northwestern
Michigan St
Maryland
Purdue

These mega conferences are extremely watered down. Let’s be real.

What a lame excuse. Why did Notre Dame play in the 2023 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and risk injuries to key 2024 contributors?

Maybe that extra practice time and game experience played a part in their successful 2024 season. Just admit it. Notre Dame cried like little girls, took their ball, and went home.

That's not why they did it. They did it because they were throwing a hissy fit at not getting selected for the CFP.

I would rather ND have made it over Bama (or either of the G5 embarrassments for that matter), but they have acted like babies after not being selected.

I’m aware of the Texas-OSU situation, but on the flip side, strong OOC wins can still help.

The Ohio state win didn’t keep Texas out, the UF Loss, MSU OT game, and their performance against UTSA did.

The tradition of getting special treatment above and beyond every other team not named Alabama. frick that tradition.

The pop tart bowl is a national treasure!!!!
Also, FUSC. They could at least put forth a modicum of effort to make this game happen.

4 pages of people bitching ND went out and scheduled a team that finished top 15 and played in their conference championship after 3 weeks of bitching ND doesn’t schedule anyone.

Can’t win.

One of my favorite rivalries to watch. Just like OU-Nebraska and othered, sucks that it’s no more …

The Catholics kicking the Mormon’s arse every year just doesn’t have the same feel to it.

The USC Trojans will have the number one recruiting class coming in for 2026. The class is rated the highest of any class since the 90s when classes were first rated. How does this compute? It’s not like they are still a top 10 program at this time. Interesting to see how Riley performs with that level of talent.

If one is honest, it’s been a real long time since this game has been meaningful.

No great loss…

Cause they signed 35 players. What site or metric are you using to say the highest rated since the 90s?

Usc is Notre Dames number 1 rival. Imagine if ohio st cancelled the michigan game....I think this is really gonna force their hand now when it comes to joining a conference

I think BYU is just two years, not permanent. ND did sign a 12-year deal with Clemson starting in 2027, I think as a possible contingency for USC not being renewed.
