Game 2 ratings

quote:

After Game 1 of the 2019 NBA finals yielded the lowest rating for any finals game since 2013, it’s hardly a surprise that Game 2 between the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors didn’t fair too well in comparison with previous years.

Sunday’s night’s showdown, which saw the defending champions emerge victorious over their Canadian rivals with a score of 109-104, scored a 3.8 rating in the key 18-49 demographic and 10.79 million total viewers. Friday’s opener drew a 3.9 rating, meaning last night’s game only declined very slightly and in fact it yielded an equally small bump in total viewership, given that the opener was watched by 10.77 million total viewers.

However, compare that with the total viewership for the last year’s Game 2, which was watched 18.5 million total viewers, and the year-to-year decline (in U.S. viewership at least) is pretty stark.

Thursday’s Warriors-Raptors NBA Finals Game 1 earned a 10.1 overnight rating, down 18% from Cavaliers-Warriors last year (12.3) and down 19% from Cavaliers-Warriors in 2017 (12.4).

Is it the Canadian teams fault or warrior fatigue?

No lebron, a Canadian team, a presumed outcome, and it starting at 9 pm on east coast

These low numbers don’t surprise me. However, with Toronto winning, I think numbers will be up for game two possibly

They don’t track Canadian viewership in their numbers.

I got downvoted to hell for saying the NBA sucks now. Too much drama and bad play.

Id much rather watch the Raptors and have an underdog vs watching Lebron vs the Warriors again.

Sucks for the people that didn't watch.

It was a really good game and it looks like the series will be very competitive

Nobody goes head to head with the Scripps Spelling Bee and gets out alive.

Lack of Lebron haters is the reason. Look at this board. The fanboys are still posting, because we are actual basketball fans. Hg and his crew are nowhere to be found in the game threads

Stop catering to the West Coast. It has been proven they are not great sports consumers compared to the East Coast. Start the game 8pm exactly like Soccer and watch the ratings go up.

The 9 PM start on the east coast for Finals games has been going on since the Bird/Magic years. That's not a good excuse for the decline in ratings.

Lol no. Pacific time is the GOAT for sports watching. Especially Saturday college football.
