That’s what i would if i were them. Less games or no games with fans means less revenue to no revenue.

if players won’t take pro rata share of games played and gate/concession receipts just cancel the season.

In the end they will still own the teams and be fine.

Start a new in 2021

2021 will be a dead season and 2022 will be a strike

Who needs baseball anyway? Fold the league.

If they kill their own cash cow, they have no one to blame but themselves. All of them.

What do you think they are being offered right now?

is it really a cash cow for teams like the Marlins Rays and A’s?

I don’t really understand being on the owners side on this.

If they wanted contingencies based on no fans they should have put that in the contract. Which is the same thing they would tell the players if they asked for something not in the contract.

I'm sure baseball has some sort of insurance policy for a catastrophic act or acts of God to interrupt or end the season so they just got to play hardball because they'll know they make money cashing in on the insurance and not risk any loss by trying to play

Especially these two. I’m no expert but aren’t they 2 of the cheapest teams in the league? I mean, they made a movie about the A’s being so notoriously cheap.

Why shouldn't owners be held to a deal they voluntarily signed?

This board was fully supportive of Reinsdorf and Krause holding Pippen to a deal he signed, but now a contract means zilch in the MLB sense?

Exactly. If I’m a player right now I only have one sentence to speak to the owners. “frick you, pay me”

Making 20 cents on the dollar is absurd.

I think the owners thought that the public at large would think the way you do, but most people can see that the owners are the unreasonable ones in all of this.

unfortunately I dont think this is the case. I think they thought the union would fold like it did in 2017 but that doesn't seem to be the case here as well

The Athletic had a great article about the A's owner today.

The games went on without Pippen. Baseball isn’t happening unless there’s an agreement. There is no precedent for what is going on right now. Trying to compare this to the Pippen situation is not apples to apples.
