Just sucks all around. Brett laid down for Strahan and probably didn't think much of it. Well Gastineau sure thought much of it, and still does. Kind of the unintended consequences of being "nice". The NFL should have called it a running play for a loss of 5 yards or whatever.

Thought I heard somewhere awhile back now that this was pre-planned. Favre does a play action then rolls Strahan’s way.

Before the snap, Strahan approached Favre. Seemed obvious at the time he was let through to break the record.

Brett FAVE-RA took a planned dive....which sucks in the spirit of honesty in sports.

But no media liked Gastineau while he played, so they buried the story..... And applauded media darling Strahan.

What a fricking loser. That is a sad sad man to still be bitter about that so much that he chose to confront Favre.

“You hurt me Brett”

Ok? So fricking what. Get over it man

ya it was, didn't even bother with the small talk at first, was quick to the point and caught Farve off guard. Im sure Favre could have said some things back, but realized it's not worth it

Gastineau was hated by his own DL teammates, he was a prick.

Still is I guess, what a pussy

Brett should go hookup with his daughter for revenge

Agree to a point, but what do we always criticize these days? People talking behind each other's back, fake outrage, etc.

This guy had a problem with Favre and told him to his face. And his outrage here is anything but fake, even if we think it's way overdone and even creepy to say this stuff out loud 20+ years later.

A lot of these top athletes, their sporting accomplishments become their whole identity. It shouldn't be that way, but it is for some. You can tell this record is Gastineau's entire self worth.

Meanwhile Favre is battling health concerns of his own. I just find the whole scene sad and a bit tragic.

Brett actually handled that pretty well. That was awkward as hell.

mean, yea he dove but he was going to get sacked

apparently not. Farve talked to Strahan before the play, then changed to a running play that wasnt called to force the protection away from Strahan, and instead of handing it off, he kept it so Strahan could sack him. A packers coach and the packers right tackle from the game have both confirmed this.

Which is a pretty bullshite thing to do to your offensive line who took pride in denying Strahan the record for the entire game.

And not a single person on the planet blamed or looked negatively on mark Gastneau for that sack.

Dude needs to get a grip. What an absolutely insane thing to still be that upset over 20 years later.

Strahan was gonna finish the sack. Favre faked a handoff and Strahan was already in his face.

The entire play was a work by Favre. He was suppose to hand it off. That's why Strahan was untouched.

It was a bullshite thing to do.

He gave Strahan a big hug after the play as a hand off of sorts. I think this today and what's going on with this 30 for 30 is ESPN taking advantage of an old man with dementia and other ailments. I think even Brett realizes it there and kind of walks away feeling sorry for the guy.
