How did St. Amant get into the playoffs with a 4-6 record ? I don’t follow Louisiana HS football much.

We have 8 playoff brackets in a state that should have, at most, 5. Years ago our high school athletic association split the playoffs between essentially private and public schools. It has continued to mess with it to what we have now. In some years past when we had 9 brackets you would have winless teams make the playoffs.

West Monroe got thumped by Ruston and got beat by an average East Ascension team. They will be done week 2 and get ready for basketball season.

They have open enrollment.

No they don’t, they are zoned public schools, that each one has a separate academy that out of zone students can apply for, but have no guarantee of getting accepted into the academy. A magnet schools have a student body that is majority out of zone, schools in Lafayette consist of majority zoned students and these academies make up a very slim portion of the student bodies.

Yeah they did. They aren't scheduling anyone who voted in favor of the split. I imagine JC did the same thing. Why they had an opening in the schedule that was filled with the Alabama school.

So you're saying they...SELECT...the students they allow into the school?

Anyone got an recs for a hotel room for Friday night for West Monroe / Chalmette game? School is deciding today whether sprirt / band groups will go and if they go, we will probably go up for game. But don't think I want to drive back after.

One of the hotels by the Ike Hamilton Center. Home 2 Suites, Hampton Inn, I think there's another one too.

I miss the years when BC, Phoenix, Buras, BV, and Port Sulphur were all in it at the same time

Pretty sure BV and Phoenix played each other in the quarters one year

I don't think phoenix every made it to the qtrs.. but PS and BV played in quarters twice 99 and 02(I know the 99 game because, well nevermind) I think 02 was the only year all parish teams made playoffs.. come to think of it I can't recall pheonix winning a playoff game.

This many brackets is beyond ridiculous.
It looks as if more teams MADE the playoffs than didn't.

There should only, AT MOST, be the district champs & district runner-up in the playoffs. Period.

Phoenix made it all the way to the semi’s in 03 and got shutout by Kentwood (I think it was Kentwood)

It was either haynesville or kentwood I can’t remember

Like you would know.

The West Monroe booster club guy said it happened so that means it's true.

Y’all take over every thread about HS football and turn it into some weird pissing match every single time

Where are the 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A, 1A brackets???? You know, the way it has been the last 100 years and the way every other state does it too.
