plus you get to play putt putt in Myrtle Beach.

there are hundreds of really nice golf courses within 30-45 minutes of myrtle beach. It's one of the highest concentrations (maybe the highest) of courses in the country.

fixed it for you. Turning down a full-scholarship anywhere to be a walk-on is a bad decision. Even during this NIL climate, at least go somewhere where your school is being paid for

What is each school paying? Is it Texas A&M money??? Then go to the highest bidder.

It's just a cold desolate wasteland in that part of the country, which is why it's such a sparsely populated part of the country. Fargo is in the flat western part of the state a long way from the mountains. I guess if you're into ice fishing and hockey, then sure.

Fargo is on the eastern side of North Dakota but still a desolate wasteland and you'll be surrounded by people with a funny accent.

ULL or Coastal Carolina or App State all seem like much better choices than NDSU, although i suspect none of those 3 are options when you say "bunch of sunbelt schools".

If he's going to any of those schools, then he should pick the one that has the best academics for what he's going into, b/c that's his future, not professional sports, and also the one he'll have the most fun at, which wouldn't be cold arse nothing to do NDSU.

Holy shite is ULM that bad that you have to go freeze your nuts off in NoDak instead of spending time in lovely Monroe?

Where would you want him to play? Obviously it’s his choice but I’d rather see him compete for a title at a place like North Dakota state than play in a small fbs conference

You're basically saying he isn't good enough to play beyond college and you want him to make his decision based on the football team's outlook rather than what is best for him academically?

Everything that should weight his decision is nowhere to be found in your post.

1. I won a national championship at NDS

My old VP played there and will tell anyone who will listen about winning a NC while there

I agree but that describes a ton of schools. There are a lot of people who would say there's nothing to do in Baton Rouge or Gainsville or College Station or State College, and they'd all be right.

Maybe…but there’s one thing that every single one of those schools do have that’s the #1 on almost every college players mind, a plethora of prime college age poontang in the quad.

Which is far surpasses what NDSU has to offer.

I’ll tell you what I think is vastly under considered when picking colleges, and that’s going to school where you want to end up working.

Also, when it comes to a smaller school I’d strongly consider its location. If you can play at a sun belt school you could probably play at San Diego St or College of Charleston or USF, etc. Go play in a great place to live.

Unless the school has a chance to offer you something specific or a championship, I wouldn’t go to a Troy St of the world just because they offered me a scholarship.

Other than go to a mid-tier bowl game, he can do both 1 and 2 at NDSU. They've beaten several P5 teams in fact.

NDSU hasn't played a P5 team since 2016. G5 teams play 2-3 P5 teams a year.

Who plays three? The last time ULL even played two in the same year was Napier's first season.

I know NDSU had a game against Oregon cancelled for Covid. I think they have other Pac-12 games scheduled in the future because the B1G and Big XII won't pick up the phone for them anymore.

NDSU, trust me. Went party with a bunch of their fans this year at the national championship. There’s some fine women at that school.

My son’ll likely play college football and where he ends up is a complete mystery. How well he does at the recruiting camps and who needs him will be one nutty equation. Set your sights on the SEC, work for that…then be honest with yourself on where you’ll get playing time.

Well the percentage of high school athletes who make D1 are slim enough as it is. Then the percentage who can make the NFL is even slimmer.

Therefore in all honesty, while I’d encourage my theoretical son in my position to take a scholarship spot over trying to walk-on at a P5, from that option, I’d pick from the ones offering scholarships, the best gives me a chance to have a degree that helps get job interviews, and maybe combine with one that would help display talent if you truly think he can be one of those “overlooked” by the P5s who is still good enough to get paid in the NFL.

Got a game against Arizona this upcoming season, Colorado in 2024 and Oregon in 2028.

Kind of a complex question. What's his position? Does he project to the pros?

If his ceiling is college player it wouldn't matter to me, wherever he wants. If he does have pro talent then I'd lay out the pros and cons and let him make the choice. Winning titles honestly wouldn't be huge on my personal criteria. Which place is going to allow him to be the best version of himself would be the question I'd want to answer.

see I just can’t understand this mindset as a fan of sports and as a competitor. I don’t think I ever played sports for fun or for the bonds I made, hell all of my best friends were dudes I never played ball with. I played sports to dominate my opponent and to be the best I could be(it wasn’t very good lol) and try to win a championship. Winning wasn’t everything it was the only thing

Many players at all level don’t care about winning it all.

To OP: eliminate any school not offering full ride.
