If you've had 2 coaches in a row who were not able to be successful. Then at that point there is no point in putting pressure on the next to win immediately.

Give the coach an automatic 4 years. If at the end of 4 years, the program hasn't improved at all then when he picked up the job, then you can move on.

Trying to fire a coach every 2 years will never get you to being a winning program.

Depends on the situation.

Willie Taggart should probably have been fired that quickly because it was clear he wasn’t a Power 5 coach. And if FSU had left him at Oregon for longer than a season, he would have proved it to them without a huge buyout.

Most other schools? Depends on the amount of talent in the cupboard. Most Kansas coaches get a while because they don’t have talent, in part because previous coaches like Charlie Weis screwed up recruiting to where they only had about 55 scholarship players due to departures.

They would have to pay 3 coaches if they did this. FSU gonna have to ride this out.

Norvell came in after Taggart coached like shite for two years and didn’t recruit very well compared to what Jimbo left him with.

Not that Norvell is good but it is hard to make an apples to apples comparison given that the talent Taggart had to work with, outside of the QB, was generally good.

There are some legendary off the field stories about Taggart's time @ FSU (like having the final walkthrough before a home game in the parking lot of the hotel the visiting team is staying at or locking blue chip recruits out of the stadium).

If not for the Saints throwing a dart at the draft guide and it hitting Rick Leonard, Cam Akers would be the only FSU offensive player taken before pick 250 in the last 4 drafts. The D has had some talent but the O hasn't especially on Oline, and that problem actually did start with the end of Jimbo. Outside of Akers and Cook, they've had pretty average talent on offense since Jameis left.

Never liked the hire. He wasn’t ready for this. O line issues are still bad (they were bad under Jimbo).

Norvell deserves 10 years to fix the shite and trash that Willie left with.

They can't fire him because they're basically paying him and Taggart the same contract until 2024 so they can't throw another contract on top of that but he's doing a terrible job. Even if the talent was worse the primary focus should be improved discipline and playing smarter but they are just as bad at it.

Here’s the one thing I don’t understand about Florida State. A CFB head coach is the most impactful person in team sports. They have a bigger impact on their team’s win-loss record than a NFL franchise QB or a MLB GM or a NFL head coach. Heck, I would argue they’re even more important to their program than a NBA superstar is to a basketball franchise. The Noles had a top 10 HC in Jimbo Fisher. Why weren’t they doing everything to keep that dude happy? New facilities? We’ll start construction on it tomorrow. More money for assistant coaches? No problem. $75 million offer from A&M? We’ll match it to keep you, Jimbo. It was absurd how they took such a good coach for granted and now they’re paying the price.

They can’t keep firing coaches after 2 seasons.

At some point they need to at least try and give a guy time to rebuild.

To be fair, they were barely a .500 team Jimbo's last year and he left them with huge gaps in recruiting outside of skill players that became glaring after he left. It's not like he was Saban
