The dumpster fire he was left was why he couldn't beat Jacksonville St at home?

He's not the clown off the field that Taggart was but there's still no excuse for the past 2 games.

Whats the deal here? Hadn't heard anything other than they sucked on the field.

Norvell sucks and kills locker rooms. He rode Fuente's coat tails at Memphis.

I gotta agree with this. I don’t see a big name taking the risk.

If you are a big name you negotiate a buy out clause that basically pays you for 4-5 years if they fire you within 2.

Isn’t that what basically all coaching contracts nowadays? The entire contract is essentially guaranteed and the buyout is usually the remaining amount left on the contract. That’s not enough money IMO to risk destroying the trajectory of your coaching career and having to start all over again. It should be at least seven or eight years to buy some time to build up the program again.

There are some crazy stories about how unorganized Taggart was off the field. Like having the final walkthrough before their home opener against VT in the parking lot of the hotel that VT was staying at. Or blue chip recruits getting locked in the stadium during a big recruiting weekend.

I doubt we ever get the full story, but it's pretty clear he had mentally checked out of that job, and was eager to leave.

I don't love Norvel or anything but I have the suspicion that if FSU is patient this is going to be a solid comeback story.

They're 6th on Rivals and 10th on 247 including the #1 player in the country and with a 5 star and several 4 star targets that were leaning FSU. Like I said that's not happening now but up until the last 2 games the class was looking to finish in the 6-10 range. Point is FSU was still the recruiting draw it always has been as long as Norvell put an improved product on the field but he failed miserably

They can’t fire him, and they won’t fire him. Nor should they.

Next year (2022) will be key for the program to show some progress.

That last sentence is patently untrue.

Norvell recruited at a much higher level than Fuente did and his teams improved over his time here.
