They should’ve hired Mark Stoops, he might not be the sexiest hire but he definitely will build a good program that will compete every game.

To be fair, they were barely a .500 team Jimbo's last year and he left them with huge gaps in recruiting outside of skill players that became glaring after he left. It's not like he was Saban

Not to excuse all of this, but he did have one of the highest winning percentages in the country among actives head coaches before his final season.

I doubt we ever get the full story, but it's pretty clear he had mentally checked out of that job, and was eager to leave. He was even calling out the lack of support from admins to the media.

FSU can't afford to fire him. They don't have nearly as many big money alums as other schools to pony up and pay his buyout, after already paying off Taggart 18 months ago.

They have to ride this train out for a at least 2 more years, whether they like it or not.

The program is in a good enough recruiting footprint and has a good enough history that a good coach, no matter how far down the program is, can come in and make it relevant again.

Florida State is similar to Nebraska Tennessee and Georgia… can’t win there now

I always say it was that Bama game - Bama brought 50plus consultant coaches, i think Jimbo realized, no matter what money he could drain from the alumni association- he would never have old Bama money to hire a huge consultant team and that realization took his soul

He'd be stupid to leave for FSU.

Good luck getting anyone to take the job worth a shite then knowing the last two head coaches got less than 2 years each.

I gotta agree with this. I don’t see a big name taking the risk.

i hear les miles is still available, they should give him a call

Lane Kiffin would have that program on fire within 1-2 years. He's one of the best recruiters in the nation and he is an offensive Genius. What he did at FAU and what he's doing at Ole Miss demonstrates how good he is.

FSU should have went after him while he was a FAU.

Yes they look awful right now but in no way do you fire someone that hasn't even coached a full 12 game season

They are becoming Nebraska, but more impatient.

From your mouth to god's ears. There were a lot of people who wanted us to go after Lane but of course our elite administration laughed that off because he's got too much piss and vinegar to be a yes man

The Nebraska comparison isn't really apt, as FSUs recruiting-grounds actually produce talent.

And Norvell was on track for a top 10 class maybe pushing top 5 after the ND game but that's obviously gone now

ere’s the one thing I don’t understand about Florida State. A CFB head coach is the most impactful person in team sports. They have a bigger impact on their team’s win-loss record than a NFL franchise QB or a MLB GM or a NFL head coach. Heck, I would argue they’re even more important to their program than a NBA superstar is to a basketball franchise. The Noles had a top 10 HC in Jimbo Fisher. Why weren’t they doing everything to keep that dude happy? New facilities? We’ll start construction on it tomorrow. More money for assistant coaches? No problem. $75 million offer from A&M? We’ll match it to keep you, Jimbo. It was absurd how they took such a good coach for granted and now they’re paying the price

I don't think FSU admin can time travel to cock block his ex wife

Giving any college HC only two years is ridiculous.

In most cases, I agree; however, it is acceptable in certain circumstances. For instance, Chad Morris was so blatantly and egregiously incompetent that he did not deserve one more second.

Not if he hits that early playing time pitch hard, particularly with linemen.

please tell me all about your recruiting class that was going to totally push a top 5 ranking when it has exactly 5 top 300 commits and only like 7 spots left

next thing youll tell me is FSU is going to challenge clemson as quickly as next year
